Yesterday, Henrik Lundqvist was a guest on the Michael Kay Radio Show (ESPN Radio) to discuss the playoffs and the Flyers… http://nyrangersblog.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/48/2014/04/kay_2014-04-14-173916-7744-0-1-0.48b.mp3 Here’s Lundqvist’s most memorable line: “I don’t feel I have to prove I can play in the playoffs, absolutely not. My last seven years in Sweden, I won four championships, two professional, two in junior. Then the [2006] Olympics. I think I’ve played well in the playoffs. To win in the playoffs, it’s about getting the group to be at its best at the right time. This is not tennis or golf. It is a team sport where together we have to push ourselves. Of course I need to play well, and I think I have done that in the playoffs. Yeah, I’ll leave it at that.” …i absolutely agree that Lundqvist has shown to be a proven playoff performer. The Rangers downfall in the playoffs year after year has been scoring. …having said that, athletes are judged by championships and Lundqvist has a big old goose egg in that category. He’s also yet to steal a series against a superior opponent and has been outplayed in the past by netminders such as Ryan Miller, Marc-Andre Fluery and Semyon Varlamov. …despite what Lundqvist says, with what I think is a legit path to a Stanley Cup, this is a big playoff for his legacy.
