Henrik Lundqvist made 39 saves for his fourth NHL playoff shutout, and Brian Boyle scored for the third straight game as the New York Rangers beat the Ottawa Senators 1-0 on Monday night. The Rangers, who lost Game 2 at home in overtime, lead the best-of-seven, first-round series 2-1. Game 4 will be Wednesday night in Ottawa before the series returns to New York. Lundqvist's biggest save came in the last minute when he robbed Kyle Turris on the doorstep with a quick pad stop. Craig Anderson was nearly as good, keeping the Senators in it with a 22-save effort. Ottawa was without captain Daniel Alfredsson, who sustained a concussion in Game 2 when he was elbowed in the head by Rangers rookie Carl Hagelin. Hagelin served the first of a three-game NHL suspension for the hit.

Video: Henrik Lundqvist & Brian Boyle Talk About Game Two Loss To Ottawa

… Henrik looks so disappointed, rightfully so. He was very solid but unfortunately the tying goal that went through was out of his hands. Poor defense on that sequence in my book.  The momentum easily shifted towards Ottawa on that tying goal and the Rangers didn’t look right since that point.  Brian Boyle has been [...]

Henrik Lundqvist Denies The Senators goals Like He's The US President

Henrick Lundqvist owned the Ottawa Senators tonight by denying all 39 shots on goal. This is his fourth NHL playoff shutout. Brian Boyle put his 2 cents in by scoring for the 3rd straight game allowing the Rangers to inch past the Senators in game 3 with a 1-0 victory. Of course you need goal(s) to win a game, but I think 99% of the credit should be given to Lundqvist for shutting...

Photo: Brian Boyle Rocking The Broadway Hat

… did Brian Boyle deserve the Broadway Hat? Yes, but I still believe Henrik Lundqvist deserved it more.  Boyle’s goal helped the Rangers win, but Lundqvist’s play in net stole the show and Game Three. Wish they could share it some how!  Boyle has been HUGE for the Rangers over the last few weeks in [...]

Fantasy Hockey Playoff ONE (4/17)

Have you ever had the feeling that one goalie changes the game on a nightly basis?  Then you would be quite correct as it seems this year's playoffs always has that one game a night where Goalie A is massively under siege and just flat out steals one.  Last night it was Henrik Lundqvist and his effort led the New York Rangers to a 1-0 win over the Ottawa Senators...

Rangers rob Sens; Recap

The Rangers gutted out a 1-0 victory over the Sens as both teams proved a low scoring game can be absorbing. Above all it was a goalie duel but the Rangers withstood heavy pressure, particularly in the third and rode their goalie and Brian Boyle to a 1-0 win. A great playoff game; let’s get to the game hits. We’re doing things a little differently from here on in. The recaps...

Hagelin-v-Carkner The young Ranger received a stiff three game suspension for his head hit on Daniel Alfredsson, while the Ottawa tough guy gets only one game for his barrage of sucker punches on Rangers tough guy Brian Boyle.
