The New York Rangers (41-15-7) lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning (30-28-6) by the score of 4-3 in overtime, tonight. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports....no one likes to lose, but when you're badly out played the way the Rangers were tonight they should be more than happy to salvage a point....i know the Rangers were missing two key offensive contributors, but they have more than enough firepower to compensate, so just 19 shots on goal against a mediocre goalie at best is inexcusable....safe to say Dubinsky received Tortorella's message....what, no rifle celebration from Anisimov? Disappointing....combined -9 for the Feds-Boyle-Prust line....not exactly the birthday gift Lundqvist was hoping for today....man in front? Shot from the point? Movement? Almost looked like a real power play from the Rangers tonight....even with Gaborik healthy this season, I'm still a nervous wreck when I see him go down. Damn Micheletti freaking me out by saying Gabby sm...

Inside Dubinsky’s stats: shooting percentage and shots

To say Brandon Dubinsky is having an off-year would be an understatement. Outside of his boneheaded penalties of late, most focus on his anemic goal total and his offensive contribution, and with good reason. Dubinsky is making $4.2 million for the next three seasons following the 2011-2012 campaign, and he has contributed just seven goals and 26 points in 60 games this year. While...

The Last Time Staal Played Against His Brother in Carolina

Tonight will be the first game Marc Staal plays against his brother Eric in Carolina since this incident last season that left the Rangers defenseman with a concussion forcing him to miss half this season... On playing against his brother again Marc said..."I don't think it's going to be any different for me or Eric. I think it's just going to be another...

Three In a Row for the Blueshirts

With starting netminder Henrik Lundqvist given the night off, and team captain Ryan Callahan, out day-to-day with a bruised foot, back-up goaltender Martin Biron needed to give the New York Rangers a strong start against the Carolina Hurricanes, especially considering the way he had played in his last few starts. As it turned out, Biron came up big for the Blueshirts in a 3-2 victory...

Rangers 3, Hurricanes 2

Marian Gaborik scored his 30th goal of the season and Brandon Prust netted the game-winner in the Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers' 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. New York (40-15-6, 86 points) has a seven-point lead...

Rangers/Bolts recap

The Rangers lost a tough one tonight, 4-3 to the Lightning in overtime.  The Blueshirts looked tired and we generally outplayed by Tampa for the better part of the game.  Henrik Lundqvist played very well and Brandon Dubinsky made a return to the score sheet.  No one likes to lose but there were definitely some positive takeaways from this one.  To the bullets… 1st Period...

Canes could play big-time hockey, just not yet

Hurricanes have nice base for future, but Thursday's loss reminds us they aren't the New York Rangers.

How bad do you want it?

Saturday night was very much not for the faint of heart as New York Islander and New York Rangers prospects tried to make sure they kept their seasons going. It is March and now the question is just how bad you want to keep playing this season? We know that you want the NHL contract but what we the people who will be watching you, buying those tickets to see you, buying that...

Rangers/Hurricanes recap

The Rangers grinded out a gutsy win in Carolina tonight, beating the ‘Canes 3-2 behind a fantastic defensive effort and a very solid game by Marty Biron.  Marian Gaborik scored to net his 30th of the year, and his 7th 30 goal season overall.  Seems like the theme lately has been a period by period recap, so I’ll give it a try (let me know which format you guys prefer in the...
