New York Rangers
Derek Stepan snapped a tie with 7:39 remaining in the third period as the New York Rangers edged visiting the Boston Bruins 4-3 to move one point ahead of idle Vancouver in the race for the Presidents' Trophy. Defenseman Anton Stralman, rookie Carl Hagelin and All-Star Marian Gaborik also scored, Brad Richards and blue-liner Michael Del Zotto notched two assists apiece and Henrik Lundqvist made 30 saves for the Rangers, who have won four straight at home and are 4-0-2 in their last six overall. Just 39 seconds after David Krejci knotted the contest during a 3-on-2 rush, Stepan unleashed a shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that found the top right corner of the net for his 14th goal of the season. Stralman and Hagelin scored 70 seconds apart early in a fight-filled first period to give New York a 2-0 lead. Stralman beat All-Star Tim Thomas with a wrist shot from above the left faceoff circle at 5:05 for his third goal. Shortly thereafter, Hagelin got the puck behind th...

With defenseman Michael Del Zotto out of the lineup on Friday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, it was expected that the first pairing of Dan Girardi and Ryan McDonagh, as they so often do, would have to take on a heavier workload in DZ's absence. However, much to the surprise of many, that duty was passed straight over Girardi and McDonagh and splatted on the plate of Marc...
The New York Rangers held their annual Garden of Dreams Casino Night last week at Gotham Hall, and Blueshirts United did a terrific job catching the action on video for those who did not attend. I was not there, but I know some of you were, so feel free to share your experience in the comments as well.
Here's the video:

Derek Stepan and Marian Gaborik both scored tiebreaking goals in the third period, and the New York Rangers held on to beat the Boston Bruins 4-3 on Sunday.
Gaborik gave the Rangers a 3-2 lead 3:14 into the third with his 32nd goal, but David Krejci tied it for Boston at 11:42. The Bruins barely had time to celebrate before Stepan ripped a drive from the left circle that sailed...
Pierre LeBrun at ESPN.com says with the Rangers opening up an eight point lead in the Eastern Conference to expect Henrik Lundqvist to get his fair share of rest down the stretch.LeBrun predicts Lundqvist will play just 11 or 12 of the Rangers final 19 games....this couldn't be working out any better for the Rangers....because the Blueshirts have had to ride Lundqvist down the...
Eklund over at Hockey Buzz wonders if Ryan Callahan has become the predominant captain in the NHL..."Callahan is a phenomenal leader by example, who cares about one thing and one thing only: the success of the New York Rangers. The team's over-achievement so far this season is certainly owed in large part to its outstanding goaltending and defense, but I think you should...
Ryan Callahan is not the lineup today for the Rangers in their matinee against the Bruins, due to a bruised foot that has kept him for the last three games. Nevertheless, I think today is as good a time as any to ask if Callahan has become the predominant captain in the NHL. There are many different styles of captaincy in hockey, and there is no one single "right" way...
Larry Brooks at the New York Post has this quote from Brandon Prust on today's game vs. the Bruins..."These are fun games when Boston comes to town. It's always fun, and with two of the top teams in the league going at it, there's a lot of pride riding on it. I expect it to be a war out there."...so pumped for today's game!!!!!Christoper Botta at the New...
The Rangers report that Ryan Callahan will not play against the Boston Bruins today, while Michael Del Zotto and Ruslan Fedotenko will be game time decisions....assuming if Fedotenko can't go, Bickel will be moved up to forward and Eminger will be inserted on defense. If nothing else the Rangers will have plenty of toughness in the line-up.Jim Cerny notes that Callahan's...
During the Boston College/Vermont game Saturday night, Glen Sather called into the CBS Sports broadcast to discuss Chris Kreider...
...did Sather say "if Kreider turns out to be as good as Brian Boyle I'll be overwhelmed with joy"? I'm sorry Glen, if Kreider ends up as a 3rd line player you are going to be the only member of the Rangers organization...
Saying yesterday's Rangers/Bruins game was physical, could be the understatement of the year. Here's the proof...Mike Rupp vs. Lane MacDermind...
...those two were throwing absolute bombs.Brandon Prust vs. Milan Lucic...
...appreciate the effort Prusty, but please leave the heavy lifting to Rupp, Scott and Bickel. For Stu Bickel vs. Gregory Cambell...
Saturday night was very much not for the faint of heart as New York Islander and New York Rangers prospects tried to make sure they kept their seasons going. It is March and now the question is just how bad you want to keep playing this season?
We know that you want the NHL contract but what we the people who will be watching you, buying those tickets to see you, buying that...

Going into the afternoon tilt, one probably thought it was going to be a defensive battle for 60 minutes.
Instead, 7 goals were scored with the New York Rangers coming out on top over the Boston Bruins by a score of 4-3. It was not easy but the Rangers did what they had to do to win.
For starters, the team was able to get two big ones in the first period on goals by Ruslan Fedotenko...
