BEST OF MAXIM
The Rangers are blessed with the King but shouldn’t assume he’s around forever.
The Rangers are in an enviable situation with Henrik Lundqvist manning their net at an age where he can continue playing at a high level for a long time behind what should be a contender for several seasons. The immediate future in net is bright, but those who think the club should sit back and...
The Rangers could be looking at some time without one of their best players.
Captain Ryan Callahan suffered what appeared to be a pretty painful left arm injury Tuesday night in the third period of New York’s 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
Callahan took exception to a little extracurricular activity from Philly’s Max Talbot around the Rangers net, and the two ended up...
After hearing the news that Ryan Callahan will only miss 10 - 14 days with a shoulder subluxation, Rangers Nation exploded into obvious rejoice. However, there was one person who sent out a word of caution...
Quick warning ... though it's probably uncommon, another NYR captain, Barry Beck, had his career wrecked by recurring shoulder subluxations
— Rangers Report...
The Penguins have new lineups for their first and second power plays. The first power play has the same players on it with one small twist. Evgeni Malkin will be on the point and James Neal will be moving up. The interesting thing is the Penguins second powerplay which practiced with Dustin Jeffrey and Paul Martin at point.
The Penguins have had 8 defensemen on the roster all season...
Per Bob McKenzie, captain Ryan Callahan is out 10-14 days with a shoulder subluxation, which means that Cally’s shoulder popped out of its socket real fast, then settled back in. This could have been a lot worse, but the Rangers will definitely miss Cally while he is out for those two weeks.
While he’s out, expect Carl Hagelin and Taylor Pyatt to get a lot of time with Derek Stepan.

The Rangers opened the season 3-4-0. Sure, it’s not the start everyone had envisioned, especially with both Ryan Callahan and Chris Kreider out with injuries, but it’s only marginally worse than last year’s 3-2-2 start through seven games. That start included four games against non-playoff teams. This year the Rangers played the Penguins twice, the Flyers...
With two victories at Madison Square Garden and one each at Philadelphia and Ottawa, the Pittsburgh Penguins might be one of the best road teams in the NHL.
At home, however, things are different. Very different.
The Penguins are the only team in the league to not collect a point at home this season. Pittsburgh is 0-2 at Consol Energy Center and have been outscored 9-3 on their...
Much of the fan base was in the tizzy about how the New York Rangers opened the lockout-shortened season and rightfully so. They looked out-of-sync, a step slow and, at times, completely lost. Not the winning brand of hockey we've grown accustom to here. And not the type of hockey that will get you a spot in the playoffs for a chance to win a Stanley Cup that everyone has predicted...
Rick Nash has 1 goal on 26 shots. As well as he has played, and it has been very, very well, that's somewhat of a problem.
— Dave Lozo (@DaveLozo) January 30, 2013
Nash has five assists and is a +5.
...you know what's strange, until I saw this tweet I didn't even notice. His game is so complete, he's been helping the Rangers win (see his five assists...

...love seeing Torts staying so positive and confident about his team despite losing Callahan.
...while I'm just as guilty as the next guy for criticizing Torts on a multitude of issues, I can say that this guy cares about the success of the Rangers organization and his players. It's why...

The Pittsburgh Penguins may want to play all over their games on the road for the rest of the season. Coming off a brutal 4-1 loss to the New York Islanders at home, their second home loss in as many games, the Penguins stormed back against the New York Rangers to stir up some boos at MSG. Evgeni Malkin scored his second goal of the season, Simon Despres scored the second goal...
Dan Bylsma remembers when Consol Energy Center opened a couple years ago and the Pittsburgh Penguins struggled to get comfortable in their fancy new digs.
The Pittsburgh Penguins coach heard the clamoring for the team to pack up and head back across the street to the decidedly antiquated - though plenty intimidating - Igloo. He couldn't miss the chatter about how the "House...
The New York Rangers appear to be back on track after a poor start to the season. The opposite has been true for the Pittsburgh Penguins, whose sudden dropoff after a solid opening has them searching for answers.
The Rangers, though, will try to begin making do without captain Ryan Callahan as they look to stop a pair of losing streaks against Pittsburgh on Thursday night.
