The Toronto Maple Leafs were able to do that to the New York Rangers tonight when they picked up their second regulation win at Madison Square Garden by a score of 4-2. The Rangers certainly did not play poorly in this game. They were able to generate several good scoring chances (32 shots on goal), found a way to make the game interesting by trying to come back from 3-0 to make it 3-2 on goals by Artem Anisinov and Marian Gaborik, and was a game that they probably could have won had some bounces gone their way. With that said, it certainly was not pretty for the Blueshirts either. The team hung its goaltender, Henrik Lundqvist (26 saves on 29 shots), out to dry on two of the goals and screened him on the other, and also took some needless penalties. It is also apparent that Sean Avery’s ice time continues to decrease as each game goes by. Tonight, Avery had 7:32 of ice time and despite not getting a lot of ice, was still able to put three shots on goal. Not sure what team head c...

The Dan Girardi Appreciation Post

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, then you know that although we are fans of Dan Girardi, we generally tend to think that he may not have a future with the team throughout the life of his contract. The Rangers already have several key cogs on defense in Ryan McDonagh, Marc Staal, and Michael Del Zotto. They also have two key prospects that will likely crack the roster...

Brandon Dubinsky Withdrawing from Team's Core

With the Rangers winning 12 out of their last 15 games, and five straight prior to Monday's loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, I felt that it would be out of place to write an article centered around negativity. But with the fan base in a minor state of depression following the team's third loss in the past month, I had to bring up an issue that's grown over the past few...

Two Rangers Prospects Win Player of Week Honors

Christian Thomas had a poor start to the 2011-12 season, but the 20010 second round pick was on fire last week with three goals and six assists in just two games for the Oshawa Generals.  That performance was good enough to land Thomas the Ontario Hockey League Player of the Week award.  With the huge week Thomas now has 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 20 games so far...

Postgame: Rangers Have Streak Snapped by Leafs

Prior to tonight’s 4-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Rangers had won five straight games and 12 out of their last 14. So one loss certainly isn’t the end of the world, nor is it something anyone should be getting overly frustrated about. However, without a doubt in my mind, the Rangers very well could’ve won this game, and had plenty of chances to do so when it was 3...

Callahan Quote: “We Had Our Chances”

Against any team in this league if you get down 3-0 it’s going to be a hard game to fight back in and win or tie up. Obviously I think that had a big part to do in (the Rangers losing). I feel like we had our chances in the third (period), but it was [...]
