The Chicago Blackhawks and their fans have become pretty accustomed to goalie controversies over the past couple of seasons.
For the past two seasons, the Blackhawks have had a different goaltender end the season in net than the that started the season. It started with Cristobal Huet and Antti Niemi in 2009-2010 and Marty Turco and Corey Crawford last season.
Luckily for the Hawks, this season there is no goalie controversy. And that’s with Ray Emery likely to see a bit more action in net in the coming weeks.
There is something wrong with Corey Crawford. He hasn’t appeared very confident in net and has given up some extremely soft goals. His GAA is at an even 3 on the year, while his save percentage is a poor .896. He’s surrendered at least four goals in seven games this season, and was pulled after surrendering three in Monday’s loss to the Phoenix Coyotes.
It was the second time in less than a week Crawford had been pulled against that Coyotes squad.
