Matt Read was especially frustrated recently, knowing that he couldn’t return to the lineup from a concussion even though he wasn’t having headaches. He would be fine all day, even driving, and when he went to move, his eyes would fail him. “It wasn’t lights,” said Read, who missed six games with concussion symptoms. “It was movements and looking around and stuff like that. It was foggy. It was weird.” The hit came on New Year’s Eve in Calgary, an open-ice thumping that Read saw coming. He wasn’t having headaches like he did two seasons ago when he had his first NHL concussion. “It was all cognitive,” Read said. “Memory was all good, but as soon as I started exercising, my head was doing things. It was tough.” He shook the vestibular issues and returned in time to help new linemate Vinny Lecavalier score a game-winning goal in Buffalo Tuesday. Read felt at home on a line with his usual partner in crime: Sean Couturier. “He said he was a little rusty in the first period, but I

Lecavalier, Hartnell help Flyers snap 2-game skid

Scott Hartnell's gritty and productive effort paved the way for Vincent Lecavalier to break out of his slump, ending the Flyers' two-game losing spell with a 4-3 comeback win in Buffalo on Tuesday night. Hours after calling his team's recent play "soft," Hartnell posted a goal and two assists, playing through a blocked shot that had him limping off the ice...

WATCH: Predators' Carter Hutton robs Michael Raffl on open net

The puck popped out in front to Flyers forward Michael Raffl who could not have had a more wide-open net.  That is, unless Predators goalie Carter Hutton went go-go gadget glove and pilfered a goal from Raffl. It doesn’t even seem physically possible for Hutton to get to the puck.  Treat it like a flip book, only on a screen. YouTube

Flyers Come Up Short in Shootout To Preds

Don’t call it a comeback. Literally one cannot since the multiple rallies never equated into a true victory, but considering how fierce the Nashville Predators played against the Flyers last night, perhaps grabbing at least one point via a shoot out loss was a victory of sorts after all. It’s odd considering this game a rally when the reality was that the Flyers were actually...
