GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The national media and NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan will spend the next two days examining Chicago forward Andrew Shaws blindside hit on Phoenix goalie Mike Smith behind the net in Game 2 of their Western Conference first-round series. Will Shaw be suspended or will his game misconduct on Saturday suffice? Did Smith produce a historic act of gamesmanship or did he stay in the game because hes tough as nails? Those questions may be the latest chapter in this already-entertaining series, but the Coyotes and Blackhawks have already turned that page. They had to. In a series so evenly matched thus far, there is precious little time to find an edge before the games resume Tuesday at the United Center in Chicago.
