Where the hell is Spartan Bob when you need him? His ...err, expertise would have been helpful in the final moments of the 2nd period of today's Red Wings-Predators Game 3 showdown. The Red Wings scored what would have been a game-tying goal just after time expired. How close was it? If this were any other sport, it would have counted. The Predators and Wings both scored once during the 3rd period, making the final score 3-2. With the win, Nashville takes a 2-1 series lead into a pivotal Game 4 on Tuesday. The Wings need to win to avoid going back to Tennessee in a 3-1 hole. Hopefully Pavel Datsyuk can repeat some of the magic that he had on his goal today to even the series at 2. [Box Score]

Evening Red Wings bullet points and a programming note

Paul might wonder if I’m trying to take out a monopoly on the front page given today’s Red Wings-related activity, given the Shanban post, the Black Aces press release, the epic practice post (I actually put about eight hours of work into that one), news about the Red Wings’ uptick in revenues, the pre-game playoff festivities post, Brad Stuart’s take on the lack of respect...

Red Wings-Predators Game 3 quick take: ‘making a game of it’ doesn’t count

The Detroit Red Wings were beaten by two teams on Sunday—the Nashville Predators and the Detroit Red Wings. The Wings bafflingly came out of the gate flatter than day-old pop in front of an electric Joe Louis Arena crowd, dug a 2-0 hole for themselves and then worked against the clock for the rest of the game, and while the Wings made a game of it and then some thanks to a Datsyukian...

Business is booming for the social media-oriented Red Wings

We know that the economy is starting to rebound, if only ever-so-slowly, in Michigan, and while the job market and municipal financial situations remain pretty damn bleak, MLive’s Michael Wayland reports that those who can save their pennies are helping the Red Wings return to a state of financial health so strong that it hearkens back to the heady “Mid Naughts”: Eight hundred...

Western Conference Quarter Finals: Game 3 – Nashville @ Detroit

Photo by John Russell/NHLI via Getty Images The series is knotted at 1-1 and the home ice advantage now swings over to the Detroit Red Wings. Detroit came out Friday night determined to have the puck luck turn to their favor. A deflection goal and a softie that Rinne assuredly wants back were the difference as the Red Wings took the second game 3-2. Nashville for all intents and...

Inconsistency, the Top 3, and the “Man Advantage”: What to take out of Game 2

Photo Credit: Frederick Breedon/Getty Images Talk about a reversal of fortunes, eh?
