Tomas Tatar bursts with energy enthusiasm and eagerness to be a Red Wings regular. He got his second shot at making inroads toward an NHL career Monday night getting a spot on the third line as the Wings hosted the San Jose Sharks at Joe Louis Arena. Tatar had one of the better chances of the game when he batted away at the puck down low while draped with defenders. “I thought he was really good” coach Mike Babcock said after the 1-0 shoot-out loss. “He was effective for us he was on the puck he was strong on the puck he played way quicker than he did his last time. I thought he was effective.” Tatar hadn’t played since his season debut Oct. 5 at Boston. “It’s nice reward for the waiting” Tatar said. “Just try to make a play play simple in the hard areas and manage the puck.” Babcock had green-lighted Tatar’s insertion in hopes of making the Wings stronger offensively. Babcock noted opponents should have to worry about shutting down forwards beyond Henrik Zetterberg Pavel Datsy...

WATCH: Antti Niemi robs Todd Bertuzzi to save game for Sharks

The Detroit Red Wings entered Monday night’s game with the Sharks severely shorthanded on the blue line. So, naturally, they turned in a stout defensive performance and failed to muster anything on the other end of the ice. The Wings did manage to grab a point by taking the Sharks to overtime, tied at 0-0. Neither team scored in the extra session either, sending the game to a shootout...

Eklund: Spark Plug Anyone? Tootoo drawing interest if Wings keep some contract.

There are several things percolating this morning, but one I find interesting on a few levels is the apparent availability of the Red Wing's Jordin Tootoo...to be honest even writing "The Red Wing's" Jordin Tootoo feels a bit odd to this writer who remembers Tootoo more for antagonizing the Wings as a feisty and very popular Nashville Predator... Tootoo is available...

Alfredsson opens up on life as a Red Wing and meeting his old team

From helmet to the bottom of his socks Daniel Alfredsson was dressed all in red here Monday surrounded by the sea of red seats in the venerable Joe Louis Arena. There was no “C” or “A” on his new winged wheel Detroit Red Wings jersey and to the naked eye there wasn’t a single “Alfredsson” sweater anywhere in the crowd as Detroit played host to the San Jose Sharks. Instead...
