Cross Brenden Morrow off your wish list, Bruins fans. According to multiple reports, Morrow was traded to Pittsburgh on Sunday after the Dallas Stars captain agreed to waive his no-trade clause. ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBrun reports that the Eastern Conference-leading Penguins will also receive Dallas’ third-round pick in June’s draft in exchange for a 2013 fifth-round pick and prospect defenseman Joe Morrow, who was selected No. 23 overall in 2011. Morrow had reportedly narrowed his choices down to Pittsburgh and Boston and was in trade talks with both clubs before deciding on the Penguins. The 34-year-old has spent his entire 13-year career with the Stars, wearing the “C” in Dallas since 2006. He’s not the scorer he used to be, with just 11 points and a minus-8 rating in 29 games this season, but Morrow should fit in well on a Penguins squad loaded with talent up front. With Morrow off the market, expect the Bruins to intensify their push for Flames winger Jarome Iginla, who would provide an immediate boost to the team’s struggling offensive attack. Boston has totaled just six goals in its last four games, going 1-3 over that span. Photo via Facebook/Official Dallas Stars
