According to 610 WIP’s Howard Eskin, Chris Drury could be in the Philadelphia Flyers plans. Eskin reports that while the Flyers are keeping an eye on the Steven Stamkos contract negotiations in Tampa Bay that Chris Drury could possibly be their “backup plan.” Chris Drury had the final season of his contract bought-out by the New York Rangers on June 29th, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st. Drury is just another player in a long list of big-time free agent bust for the New York Rangers. In 2007 Drury signed a 5-year contract worth over $35 million dollars. Oddly enough, the Philadelphia Flyers signed his then teammate with the Buffalo Sabres, Danny Briere that same off season. There were rumors that the Flyers were interested in Drury then, but decided to go with Briere instead.
