Former Buffalo Sabres forward Matthew Barnaby, currently an ESPN analyst, was charged with DWI after being found driving without a front tire early Monday morning, WGRZ reported.
Barnaby, 38, failed several sobriety tests and refused a breath test after being pulled over in the imbalanced Porsche Cayenne by Erie County Sheriffs in Clarence, N.Y.
The vehicle, which had significant front end damage, was causing sparks where the rim of the vehicle met the road.
Barnaby was arrested and charged and his license was revoked. He was ordered to return to Town of Clarence Court, WIVB reported.
The arrest was the former NHL star's second this year and could see him pay a heavy retrospective penalty, after being issued with a one-year ACD related to a domestic incident with his estranged wife in May.
Barnaby was ordered during his sentencing to perform 500 hours of community service and attend counseling following the incident in Amherst, N.Y. He also was served with two protection orders to his wife and her boyfriend.
Barnaby played for the Sabres from 1992 to 1999 before leaving for Pittsburgh in March 1999.
He went on to play with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Colorado Avalanche, New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks and Dallas Stars before retiring in 2007.
In a career of 834 NHL games, he scored 113 goals and accumulated 2,562 penalty minutes.
