Ready for more rumors about the NHL expanding into Seattle? Of course you are. A recent report from Mitch Levy, a radio host in Seattle, indicates that Gary Bettman is pushing for a hockey team in Seattle by 2014-15.  The short of it is: I'm hearing that the NHL Commish is encouraging the board of governors to make an expansion team available to Seattle. — mitch levy (@kjrmitch) July 31, 2013 The report is still firmly grounded in the world of "sources" and speculation, but it does add more fuel to the fire that the NHL is actively looking to place a team in Seattle. A new team in Seattle would require two key factors: owners and an arena. Both situations are far from stable, meaning that though the NHL might be pushing for a team the city might not be ready as early as the league would like.  It's really no mystery that the NHL is looking to expand in the West. Given the league's lopsided alignment which begins in 2013-14, all signs have pointed to two new teams joining the Western Conference. Still, though the writing has been on the wall, the fact the league might be pushing for a team that can participate in 2014-15 is fairly noteworthy. Since when has the NHL ever addressed an issue or a problem in a timely manner?  [follow]
