Found October 09, 2013 on Puck Drunk Love:
Sergei Fedorov is about to resume his professional hockey career. The 43-year-old Fedorov is ready to make his return to the ice and will suit up for CSKA Moscow of the KHL on Friday. Fedorov last played for Metallurg Mg back in March of 2012 and now (if the reports are true) will abandon retirement after a little over a year and a half.  The move is a fascinating one considering Fedorov has served as the general manager of CSKA Moscow since 2012. The team has been reportedly short on centers and now Fedorov has found someone to fill the void - himself.  This Friday 43-yrs Sergey Fedorov (GM CSKA now) will resume hockey career - will play for CSKA vs Metallurg Mg (Mike Keenan team). — Pavel Lysenkov (@plysenkov) October 9, 2013 Fedorov's hockey career is already pretty legendary. He started playing for CSKA Moscow back in 1986 and then moved over to the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings in 1990. He stayed with the Red Wings through 2002-03 before spending time with Anahe...

Sergei Fedorov will indeed take a curtain call with CSKA Moscow

For the last two years, I've been suggesting that former Red Wing and current CSKA Moscow GM Sergei Fedorov would make some sort of "curtain call" appearance for CSKA to help drum up support for the team--and to play his final professional games for the team with which he "turned pro"--and Sovetsky Sport's Pavel Lysenkov reports that the 43-year-old will...

Sergei Fedorov officially signs with CSKA Moscow

Former Red Wing Sergei Fedorov has signed a remainder-of-the-year contract with CSKA Moscow, playing for what Sovetsky Sport reports is a league-minimum 3 million rubles ($92,650), and the 43-year-old center will begin his comeback soon. He told Championat's Maria Rogovskaya that he's feeling healthy and hale despite having battled back issues in the past, but he does not...

Capitals' Mike Green designs cool NHL '94-inspired t-shirt

NHL ’94 never goes out of style. Capitals high-scoring blueliner Mike Green earned the nickname “Game Over Green” during the 2007-08 season for his frequent and timely late-game heroics. Fans made their own custom jerseys with the nickname to wear at Caps’ home games, but the ever-fashionable Green has a better option. Green launched his own clothing line over the offseason...

Sergei Fedorov’s unretirement story

The story goes something like this, and this is "how I know it" to go: a year-and-a-half ago, Vladimir Putin, who proudly claims the KHL as his creation, duly noted that the KHL's marquee teams, like SKA St. Petersburg, the Ak Bars Kazan, Avangard Omsk, Metallurg Magnitogorsk and (at the time) Salavat Yulaev Ufa are almost completely located outside of Moscow, with...

43-Year-Old Sergei Fedorov to Attempt Comeback in KHL, Red Wings Legend Says ‘My Legs Are Still Running’

Tomas Hertl, Jacob Trouba and Seth Jones might be lighting the NHL on fire with their explosive rookie play, but the veterans of the game aren’t ready to fade away just yet — in fact, legendary Red Wings center Sergei Fedorov is planning a comeback. Joel Ward's bathroom adventure

It occurs to me that this title may have led you to believe that this post was about something else. But no. Hurricanes 3 Capitals 2 ReCap

The Washington Capitals fell to 1-3-0 to start that season after a 3-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.  It was the Capitals first loss at home this season and first loss in the new Metropolitan Division.  The Capitals got out to an early lead behind a Jason Chimera goal, but were unable to keep the Hurricanes from tying it up and taking the lead in the third period.  On to the...

Is It Time For A GM Change In Washington?

from Adam Proteau of The Hockey News, Yes, it’s only been three games – and I realize they started last season poorly as well before recovering to make the playoffs – but this Caps team does not look like a post-season squad, let alone a true Stanley Cup contender. And if it does go completely pear-shaped for Washington this year, there ought to be a change in the franchise’s...
