Rumors of Canadian teams presenting Jamie Benn with offer sheets are everywhere. Two Canadian teams have approached Benn, you say? Oilers would benefit from having a bigger player as their 2nd line center, perhaps (Benn can play either on the wing or at center)? Is there an Edmonton Oilers angle to this? Likely no. It isn't because Benn would be a bad player to spend money on. He'd improve...

Colin Dambrauskas: Offer Sheet For Benn From a Canadian Team?...Calgary's a Canadian Team!

As recently reported by Ek, there is a rumor that a Canadian team(or two) may be sending an offer sheet to Dallas for RFA Jamie Benn. This just so happens to be a player who a team like Calgary desperately needs. Not only is Benn a strong skater, a big body and young, but he’s also a centerman! At 23 years old, Benn has played 222 games in the NHL and has tallied 160 points...

Eklund: Rumors of a Jamie Benn Offer Sheet?

Still working on my rumor update involving all the dominoes...but I was just hit with this fun rumor (unless you are a Stars fan) and I am looking into this. What I have been told, as of this writing, is there are two teams who may be working this up, both of whom are in Canada. In general offer sheets have ben rare, but with the Shea Weber signing and the obvious CBA uncertainty...

Yakupov Signs

The wait was worth it. The deal is done. And the 2012 first overall draft pick Nail Yakupov has signed his entry level deal with the Edmonton Oilers. The deal is of course, completely as expected, the standard 3 year entry level deal with this year’s maximum allowable salary ($925,000) and bonuses (performance $2,850,000 and signing $92,500) all adding up to a cap hit of $3,775...

Richard Cloutier: Now Here's Something Really Different

I was driving in my car going to Athabasca today while listening to Oilers Now, and I began to daydream. Someone mentioned the name Tyler Pitlick and I got to thinking about where and when he could fit into the future Oilers. The future "good" team that will make the playoffs and challenge for cups, and not the current "bad" team full of kids and potential, but...
