It has been a rough couple of years for now former New York Islanders goalie Rick Dipietro. He hit is professional bottom last week when the Isles waived him after being a member of the organization for the last 13 years. The former #1 overall draft pick in 2000 became a blackhole for the team due to his lack of play over the past several seasons. His contract became am an albatross, and it appears as if the Islanders will never have him play in New York, again. Dipietro is now playing in the AHL for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, an affiliate of the Islanders.
