Conacher claimed of waivers by Buffalo. (Michael Dwyer/AP Photo) The day after being waived by the Ottawa Senators, forward Cory Conacher has been claimed by the Buffalo Sabres. Conacher, who was traded from Tampa Bay less then one year ago in a trade that sent Ben Bishop to Tampa Bay, will join his third team in his NHL career. The Sabres have claimed Canisius College grad Cory Conacher off waivers. — John Vogl (@BuffNewsVogl) March 5, 2014 A native of Burlington, Ontario, Conacher played four years of college hockey at Canisius College in Buffalo from 2007 to 2011. In 129 collegiate games with Canisius, Conacher set school records for goals (62) and points (147). When Conacher was picked up last year by Ottawa, he was a impressive for being a five-foot-eight undrafted rookie in 2013. Conacher last season with both Tampa Bay and Ottawa put up 11 goals and 18 assists in only 47 games, while adding three goals in eight playoff games last season. However, this year has been a struggle for the sophomore. He has hit the dreaded slump, with just four goals and 16 assists in 59 games.
