The Buffalo Sabres agreed to terms with defenseman Christian Ehrhoff on Thursday.
The deal is reportedly for 10 years and $40 million. Ehrhoff could have become a free agent on Friday.
Ehrhoff had an interesting few days as his rights were traded twice since Tuesday. The New York Islanders obtained his rights from Vancouver before Buffalo worked out a trade to get him from New York.
Ehrhoff is coming off a strong campaign in which he had 50 points and a plus-19 rating for the Canucks.
