Credit for this one goes out to Fake Peter Laviolette on Twitter. Fake Lavy considered stopping the use of that account after real Laviolette was fired, but we’re all thankful he’s kept it going. The Flyers’ Steve Mason has been nothing short of spectacular this year. He’s easily been Philaelphia’s best player, and it shows in his 2.17 goals against average and .930 save percentage. Mason has definitely solidified himself as the Flyers’ starting goalie after a training camp battle with Ray Emery. The 25-year old netminder will once again find himself between the pipes for the Flyers tonight as they take on the New York Islanders. The Flyers will look to win 2 games in a row for the first time all season, and maybe – just maybe – they’ll be able to provide their goalie with more than 2 goals for the first time all year.

Flyers Demote Leading Goal Scorer

The Flyers have made a very stupid move. As forward Scott Hartnell is coming back from his injury, the Flyers have demoted 23-year old Tye McGinn to make room for Hartsy. McGinn leads the team with 3 goals scored this season. While Hartnell can be an effective player, he has lost his chance to skate with the first line. Jay Rosehill is still of the Flyers’ roster over McGinn. McGinn...

Max Talbot Blogs About Injury in French, Here’s the Translated Version

After a gruesome injury in the Flyers’ 2-1 win over the Rangers last Thursday, Max Talbot skated off the ice while Flyers fans held their breath. However, it seems he was lucky — or just very good at instincually protecting himself. As Talbot explains, he shockingly did not  suffer a concussion, and only missed time to recover from a messed up nose and some muscle aches. You...

Tim Panaccio: Hartnell Back; McGinn Gone

Scott Hartnell is back. And Tye McGinn is gone. That's the crux of the news out of Flyerdom on Friday. I can't ever recall the Flyers under Paul Holmgren sending their "leading" scorer down to the minors but with 3 goals, McGinn got bounced to create a roster spot for Hartnell. And while you can scoff at the move, it makes sense because McGinn had not...

Tye McGinn, Flyers' leading goal scorer, demoted to AHL

To put it mildly, it's been a strange year for the Philadelphia Flyers. The peculiarity continued Friday when the Flyers sent down Tye McGinn to the American Hockey League. Maybe that shouldn't be a surprise, but as of now, McGinn is the team's leading goal scorer with three tallies in four games. McGinn's three goals this season, two of which came as the only goals...

Hartnell feels 'pretty good,' praises McGinn

Four games missed with an apparent rib cage injury seemed like an eternity to Scott Hartnell. “I hate missing games, it’s not fun,” the left wing, who is expected back in the lineup Saturday against the Islanders in Uniondale, N.Y., said. “It’s frustrating to watch.” The Flyers lost three of those games. Hartnell took full practice with projected linemates Brayden...

Lecavalier hat trick spurs Flyers

Vinny Lecavalier scored three goals in Philadelphia's biggest offensive outburst of the season, and Steve Mason made 26 saves to lift the Flyers to a 5-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday night. The Flyers (3-7) hadn't scored more than two goals in any of their first nine games. One more and they would have become the first NHL team to have a season-opening...

Flyers come through in third to defeat Rangers, 2-1

Talk about consistency the Flyers if nothing else have been consistent about one thing through all nine games this season. Every one of those games has been within a goal one way or the other in the third period. This time however the Flyers actually won 2-1 over the Rangers at Wells Fargo Center after losing four straight in which the score was 2-1 when the final period began...

Flyers-Islanders Preview

The Philadelphia Flyers have yet to score three goals in a game this season. The New York Islanders scored three goals in less than six minutes Friday night. The Flyers will try to close a sizable production gap between the two teams Saturday night in New York and avoid losing eight of their first 10 games in regulation for the first time in franchise history. Scoring 1.44 goals...

Despite strong debut from Talbot, Rangers still lose in Philly

(Photo by Len Redkoles/NHLI via Getty Images) Well the Rangers lost another game, this time to the lowly Flyers. The Rangers wasted a solid debut from rookie Cam Talbot, who filled in for the injured Henrik Lundqvist, and only managed a single goal to a Flyers team that couldn’t buy a win. Talbot made 25 saves in his debut, but a boarding major to Benoit Pouliot and a disallowed...

Braydon Coburn broke a tie early in the third period, and Steve Mason made the lead stand up as the Philadelphia Flyers beat the New York Rangers 2-1 on Thursday night for their second win of the season. Matt Read scored a short-handed goal and added an assist, and Mason made 30 saves for Philadelphia (2-7), which snapped a four-game losing streak. The Flyers are still off to their...
