McKenzie: Luongo Stasis "Gumming Up" Bishop Market

Appearing on NHL Tonight Wednesay evening, Bob McKenzie saved a minute to dicuss the Senators goaltending...and its future. Beyond referencing Luongo's continued stay in Vancouver as an impediment to goalie movement around the league, the other interesting nugget had Calgary as a possible Bishop landing spot. Swatting away any speculation that Anderson could be on the outs...

Travis Yost: Goalie Logjam

Make sure to follow Travis on Twitter! -- With a trio of talent in the system, the Ottawa Senators had no choice but to return blue-chip goalie Robin Lehner and his two-way contract to AHL Binghamton. As an organization, the Ottawa Senators have never quite experienced the quality or quantity of goaltending ability like the one recently assembled by GM Bryan Murray. The acquisition of Craig...

Ryan Malone leads late charge as Lightning get past the Senators

A high scoring second period put the Lightning behind the Ottawa Senators going into the third period of Friday’s matchup. But a pair of third period goals by Ryan Malone put Tampa Bay ahead for good as they beat the Sens 6-4. The Lightning got on the board first with a power play goal by Matt Carle just a little over a minute into the game. Ottawa followed that up with four goals...

Travis Yost: Bolts Comeback Sinks Senators

Make sure to follow Travis on Twitter! -- Without veteran Craig Anderson between the crease, the Ottawa Senators knew they'd have to clean it up a bit defensively in order to take down a Tampa Bay Lightning team known for an electric offense. Final score? Tampa Bay 6, Ottawa 4. Mission failure. The two teams went full pond-hockey for all sixty minutes, trading scoring...

Senators-Panthers Preview

The Ottawa Senators' hopes of building on their surprising success from last season likely hinge on the scoring depth that develops beyond their first line. While it's only two games into the season, Kyle Turris appears ready to be a key player in those plans. Travis Yost: Gameday: Three Straight in the Sunshine State?

Make sure to follow Travis on Twitter! -- At times, it hasn't been as clean as perfectionist Paul MacLean would prefer. They'll get a shot to move their win streak to three on Thursday against a Panthers team they beat handily on Monday...

Michael Stuart: Lightning Complete Comeback in Messy Tilt Against the Senators

After so much talk about needing to have a strong defensive performance against the Ottawa Senators on Friday night, the Tampa Bay Lightning came out and laid a defensive egg. Despite that - in what turned out to be a game full of defensive gaffes, miscues and missed assignments, the Lightning ended up with two points at the end of sixty minutes. It wasn’t a pretty performance...

Travis Yost: Ottawa Stays Perfect in Florida

Make sure to follow Travis on Twitter! -- The force fields in front of the Ottawa and Florida nets kept this game bizarrely low-scoring, especially considering just how many scoring chances each team had on the night. But, in the end, Senators netminder Craig Anderson out-dueled fellow-goalie Jose Theodore for the second-time this season, en route to the 3-1 victory. Tomas Fleischmann...

The An'Tip'in Of The Iceberg?

Just the other day, Scott touched upon a report by Andrey Osadchenko indicating Ottawa was in talks to sign undrafted defenceman Viktor Antipin. Although Ottawa’s depth in general is enviable – just ask Eugene Melnyk – there’s a discernible difference between quantity versus quality. On the blue line, a number of players have graduated from Binghamton to join Erik...
