Wild send Kassian to Ottawa for pick

SAINT PAUL, Minn. Matt Kassian hasn't been able to break through with the Minnesota Wild this season, and now the forward will get a chance with a new organization. The Wild announced Tuesday that they've traded the 26-year-old to Ottawa for a sixth-round pick in the 2014 draft. Kassian had one goal in nine games this season with the Houston Aeros of the AHL. The 6-foot...

Sens Acquire Forward Matt Kassian For Pick

The Senators have acquired forward Matt Kassian from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a 2014 6th round draft pick. The 6'5, 247 pound left winger is 26 years old, and has played just 28 games in his NHL career, non of which are from this season, and is a career 0.1 PPG in the AHL.  In other words, he is what you might call a "goon". Bob McKenzie talked about...

Wild send Granlund to AHL to get playing time

ST. PAUL, Minn. Minnesota Wild coach Mike Yeo doesn't doubt the NHL ability of rookie forward Mikael Granlund, but Granlund's development and regaining his confidence for now will have take place with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. Granlund, a healthy scratch in three of the past four games, was reassigned to Houston Tuesday by the Wild. Considered the...

Wild reassign Kuemper to AHLs Aeros

ST. PAUL, Minn. Healed from his lower-body injury, rookie goaltender Darcy Kuemper was activated Wednesday from injured reserve by the Minnesota Wild and reassigned to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. Kuemper, 22, was 1-2-0 with a 2.22 goals-against average and .924 save percentage in four games for Minnesota this season, making his NHL debut. Kuemper, who last played...

Minnesota loses game and Zucker, too

ST. PAUL, Minn. Minnesota Wild coach Mike Yeo had just finished watching his team lose a disappointing 2-1 game to the second-place Anaheim Ducks in which Minnesota lost rookie forward Jason Zucker to an upper-body injury and couldn't offer an update on his young scorer. Yeo said he hadn't watched the play, in which Anaheim forward Corey Perry hit an unsuspecting Zucker...

Wild's Zucker all right after Perrys hit to head

ST. PAUL, Minn. A day after taking a scary hit from Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry, Minnesota Wild rookie forward Jason Zucker returned to the ice and said he feels "all right." Zucker, 21, skated on his own shortly after Minnesota's optional practice Wednesday, an indication the speedy forward has likely avoided a concussion. During the second period of Tuesday...

Wild's Zucker struck by elbow from Ducks' Perry

Minnesota Wild forward Jason Zucker was helped off the ice after he was elbowed in the head by Anaheim's Corey Perry in the second period of the Ducks' 2-1 victory on Tuesday night. Perry dipped his shoulder and threw an elbow at Zucker's head, sending him crashing into the corner boards. Zucker stayed down on the ice for about five minutes as he was helped by trainers...

(Video) Corey Perry Hit On Jason Zucker

In my opinion this is a violation of rule 48 and will cost Corey Perry a game or two from the department of players safety. Wild forward Jason Zucker is in a vulnerable position and the head looks to be targeted. 48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A hit resulting in contact with an opponent's head where the head is targeted and the principal point of contact is not permitted...

Torrey Mitchell’s shot rides across the goal line by somehow never crosses it

How is this possible?  I’ve looked at the shot over and over again by Minnesota Wild forward Torrey Mitchell and apparently it never went in.  Mitchell ripped an awesome backhander past Anaheim Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller, and while it looks like it went in, it hit the crossbar and rode across the goal line.  His teammate Mike Rupp even had a free crack at it and completely botched...

Perry shows remorse for Zucker hit: 'It's unfortunate'

Corey Perry's blindsided hit to Jason Zucker cost him a game misconduct and five-minute major for interference Tuesday night. The late hit to Zucker's head knocked the 21-year-old Minnesota Wild forward's head into the boards and out of the game. Afterwards, Perry showed some remorse for the vicious hit. “I was committed to the hit. … I tried to let up...

Kaspars Daugavins, the Shootout, Matt Kassian and Trade Rumors

Monday night the Ottawa Senators suffered a 3-2 loss in a shootout to the Boston Bruins. Kyle Turris and Guillame Latendresse notched the two goals for the Sens, both coming in the first period. Guillame Latendresse suffered a whiplash injury in the 6th game of the season and came back to score his first goal [...]

Avalanche-Wild Preview

While the Minnesota Wild have mostly thrived in home games, they let their latest one slip away. The Wild would appear to have a good chance to bounce back as they open a home-and-home set against the Colorado Avalanche, who hope to avoid an eighth consecutive road loss Thursday night. Minnesota (13-10-2) had strung together a season-best four straight home wins before falling...

Ducks Steal Game from Wild

After the 2-1 defeat of the Minnesota Wild by the Anaheim Ducks, no one in the state of hockey is happy.  Except Zach Sikich, but more on him later. The Wild were robbed.  Plain and simple.  They outworked, outplayed and outlasted the Ducks for the first two periods of the game.  Anaheim was outshot 22-7 after the first 40 minutes of play and things did not look like they...

Brad Ratgen: This is Our Pond! Game Preview: Anaheim Ducks at Minnesota Wild.

The Northwest Division leading Minnesota Wild take on the Pacific Division leading Anaheim Ducks tonight in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Ducks have benefited from Chicago’s ridiculous streak and are second in the NHL only to the Blackhawks who, as of late, seem to be faltering and could, at any moment, be taken over by the consistent top level play of the Anaheim (Mighty Again...
