Robin Lehner turned aside 32 shots for his first career shutout and visiting the Ottawa Senators ended a long hex against the Boston Bruins with a 1-0 triumph on Tuesday. Red-hot defenseman Erik Karlsson scored the only goal Lehner would need as the Senators ended a streak of eight consecutive losses to the Bruins and won for the first time in five meetings this season. Lehner improved to 3-0-0 this season by making 17 saves in the third period to help Ottawa move to 7-1-1 in its last nine and close within a point of the Bruins atop the Northeast Division. Karlsson, named the league's first star of the week Monday, continued his blistering pace by hammering a slap shot past a screened Tim Thomas on the power play at 14:44 of the opening period. It was the seventh goal in an eight-game points streak for Karlsson, who also has 11 assists during that span. Jason Spezza assisted to give him 21 points during a 10-game streak.
