Last week, it was reported in The Boston Globe that at least one team was sniffing around free agent winger Brendan Shanahan(notes). Over the weekend, both The Fourth Period and the Ottawa Sun reported that the Philadelphia Flyers could be that team.For the Flyers, it's a move that makes sense: Shanahan's a more talented offensive player than some of the big bodies down in the lineup and another great veteran locker room presence for a team that could still use a few. For Shanahan ... well, if we're to believe that his split with the New Jersey Devils had everything to do with his place in the lineup, then would the Flyers make him a first- or second-line player?
