The San Jose Sharks signed defenseman Colin White to a one-year deal worth $1 million on Wednesday.
White was set to earn $3 million this season with the New Jersey Devils, but the Atlantic Division team opted to buy out the contract on Tuesday.
"(He is) a stopper, a physical guy who's also an excellent penalty killer — you can never have too many of those," Sharks general manager Doug Wilson told the San Jose Mercury News.
A two-time Stanley Cup winner, the 33-year-old White collected six assists in 69 games last season for the Devils.
