Shawn Thornton seemed to be the only Bruins player that showed up to the rink tonight in Buffalo and did his job against the Sabres. Buffalo destroyed the B's by a final score of 6-0, but Thornton provided some destruction of his own after dropping the gloves with Mike Weber late in the second period. Thornton landed two heavy left-handed haymakers to Weber's jaw, sending him crashing to the ice soon after the bout started. As Bruins fans, we've come to expect performances like this from Thornton when the B's need a big boost of energy. Tonight, though, Thornton was the only Bruin who held up to his end of the deal. http://twitter.com/TheNosebleeds

Claude Julien Puts Bruins Through Their Paces With Intense Practice Intending to Snap Club Out of Recent Slide

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- After suffering their worst loss of the season with a 6-0 defeat in Buffalo on Wednesday, the Bruins returned home on Thursday expecting to be put through their paces in practice. It wasn't a full bag skate, but coach Claude Julien definitely worked his players thoroughly in a practice that lasted more than an hour at Ristuccia Arena. "Certainly we need...

Zdeno Chara Gets Rare Day Off, While Nathan Horton Remains Out of Practice With Concussion

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- The Bruins returned to the ice for practice Tuesday at Ristuccia Arena after a day off on Monday. Not everyone was on hand for the workout, however. The absence of captain Zdeno Chara was unusual for the workaholic defenseman, but not a source of concern as Bruins coach Claude Julien was simply giving Chara a break from the grind of a long season. "I gave...

Tim Thomas Causes Stir on Facebook, Says 'I Stand With the Catholics in the Fight for Religious Freedom'

Tim Thomas spoke up on his Facebook page for the first time since his White House saga. The Bruins goalie, who skipped out on the teams' visit to see president Barack Obama in the nation's capital earlier this year, posted the following on his Facebook page at about 1:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday afternoon. "I Stand with the Catholics in the fight for Religious Freedom,"...

Ty Anderson: Bruins return to Buffalo to face Ruff-less Sabres

Declared the winners of the 2011 off-season before the team even began skating, things haven't gone well for the Buffalo Sabres. Not at all, actually. A point away from dead last in the Eastern Conference, the Sabres have been crushed by the inconsistency of Ryan Miller, whose a bad game away from a sub-.900 save-percentage and goals-against-average over three. They've...

Bruins Live Blog: Tuukka Rask in Net As B's Try to Maintain Momentum in Clash With Sabres in Buffalo

6:30 p.m.: The Bruins are back in Buffalo, looking for their third straight win over the Sabres this season. More importantly, they're looking for their second straight win for the first time in nearly a month. Boston hasn't won back-to-back games since beating Winnipeg and Montreal on Jan. 10 and 12, but can start building a new win streak in Buffalo after winning 4-1 in...

GARTH: Jeep On The Ice. Lindy In Garage

The Sabres are on the ice at First Niagara Center at this hour. Assistant coach, James Patrick, is running the session while Lindy Ruff stays off the ice. Ruff suffered broken ribs when he smashed into from behind by Jordan Leopold during a 1-on-1 drill that went horribly wrong when the Buffalo D-man blew a tire and spun out of control. More to come.... ***

When opponents suck, the Bruins suck. BRUINS LOSE. BAD.

What an awful, awful game. The Bruins looked like they got together and said "Hey Buffalo, here's a win. We gift wrapped it for you!" They barely challenged the very mediocre Ryan Miller. They looked like it was their first hockey game ever. The Bruins seem to have a team philosphy this season: Play a terrible team, Play terrible. They rarely generated any offensive...

Sabres coach Ruff day-to-day after breaking three ribs

Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff's dancing and coaching days are on hold a day after he was upended by defenseman Jordan Leopold in an on-ice collision during practice.

Bruins Welcome Early Starts, Even Though Heavy Dose of Matinees Down Stretch Require Some Adjustments

BOSTON – For the Bruins, daylights savings time starts now. After playing just eight matinees in their first 52 games, the Bruins will play nine in their final 30 games of the regular season. That includes Saturday afternoon showdowns in six of the final nine weeks of the year, five of them at the Garden. That’s a lot of early workdays coming for the club, but the Bruins don’t...

Hamill Assigned to Providence

Greetings from Ristuccia Arena

WILMINGTON --- As one might expect, the Bruins were put through the paces today at Ristuccia Arena following an abominable 6-0 loss Wednesday night in Buffalo. The entire team, with the notable exception of Nathan Horton, was present and accounted...

Miller makes 36 saves as Sabres blank Bruins 6-0

As difficult as it was for Lindy Ruff to watch from the press box, and as painful as his three broken ribs felt, the Buffalo Sabres coach had plenty to smile about after a 6-0 win over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.
