Earlier today New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur said he would consider waiving his no trade clause. According to a CBS Sports report, Brodeur spoke about the possibility of being traded today, “I hope it will never happen, but if there is a situation that could be really fun for me and really good for the Devils, why not? It’s not like I’m going to play 25 more years here,” Brodeur said Tuesday. “Im not looking for that. I want to get back into the playoffs with the team and try to do something with this team. I would say 99 percent I’d say no right now. But for a little bit of time? Nobody is going to remember it, really. It wouldn’t be that big of a deal,” he continued. It is hard to imagine Martin Brodeur playing somewhere other than for the New Jersey Devils. He has spent more than 20 years and 1,227 games in the NHL, all with the Devils where he has been arguably the best goaltender of all time. Brodeur is currently splitting time with Cory Schneider in net and if the Devils continue to struggle it might be in the teams best interest to consider offers for Brodeur. By no means was Brodeur asking for a trade, he would prefer to stay in New Jersey where his home is but if the Devils fail to make the playoffs he wants everyone to know he is open to being dealt. Where would Brodeur fit in other than in New Jersey? Montreal Canadiens? Colorado Avalanche? What do you think? Twitter @SamDFriedman.
