Before last night's NHL game in Buffalo between the Sabres and the visiting Carolina Hurricanes, a singer botched the singing of 'O Canada'.

Instead of singing "From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee", she sang "O Canada, we stand on guard, we stand on guard for thee". It certainly didn't sound right and it did not go unnoticed by the crowd.

'O Canada' is usually sung before an NHL game when one of the teams is based in Canada. However, since Buffalo is close to the Canadian border, the Sabres extend the courtesy of singing 'O Canada' before all their games as a courtesy for the Canadian fans who attend their home games. Hopefully next time the Sabres will make sure the singer knows the words.

We've seen an endless number of celebrities botch the American National Anthem, but this would seem to be the first time we've picked up someone botch the Canadian National Anthem.

Hurricanes still tinkering with lineup

The Hurricanes are a team in transition in several ways. That includes the lineup. "We're not a team right now that has 12 guys in place," coach Kirk Muller said, explaining regular changes to line combinations. "You have to earn your ice time." The Hurricanes had more of their primary players in place than at any time in the past month for Tuesday night...

Kirk Muller rejuvenates Carolina in second half

Nashville Predators coach Barry Trotz has had a good viewpoint from which to judge the progress made this season by Carolina Hurricanes coach Kirk Muller. For one, Muller started the season as the coach of the Predators' top farm team. But also because the Predators have played the Hurricanes twice at key times since Muller took over for the fired Paul Maurice. The first was...

Jaroslav Spacek Has Interest in the Boston Bruins

Jaroslav Spacek, currently a defenceman playing for the Carolina Hurricanes, could find himself in the black and gold of the Boston Bruins next season. According to Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe, the Bruins took a strong run at acquiring the 38-year-old from the Hurricanes prior to the NHL’s trade deadline, but Carolina’s asking price was too high. But that’s not the...
