Da Great White Hype:

Vogue-intern/professional antagonist Sean Avery seems poised to make a Broadway Comeback with the New York Rangers.
Assigned today to the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL (New York Rangers' minor-league affiliate), Avery could make a return this season to the NHL, following the diss heard round the world.
Last December, Avery was suspended for six games for what the league called "inappropriate comments" he made to the media concerning his former girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert and her tendency to date guys on the ice. This came during Avery's first season with Dallas Stars, after signing a 4 year, $15.5 million contract after bolting NYR in free agency.
A few months, I detailed here about how ludicrous the suspension was, but because of Avery's constant bad behavior on the ice and his league-wide polarizing demeanor, Avery was banished from the Stars without a home.
Enter the Rangers.
A team struggling to find identity, and often, toughness would most likely welcome Avery back, especially after the one and a half successful years he had in the Blue and White sweater. While teams often must be concerned about picking up players who could be depicted as team "cancers", the Rangers don't have much to lose in this situation.
Avery would come as a bargain--the Stars will pick up half the salary remaining on his three year contract. And with the Rangers struggling to remain in the top half of the conference lately, he will be a valued pickup down the stretch.
