Full Scale Sports:
For a long the New York Islanders have been a mediocre franchise. Instead of keeping their young talent they like to trade it in order to acquire big names. For example they have traded Zdeno Chara, Roberto Luongo, and others and in return; no megastars. Although these questionable moves were made nothing even remotely matches […]

Brian Strait is day-to-day with an upper body injury and will miss tomorrow’s game against Pittsburgh. That leaves the Islanders with six defenders so Radek Martinek will make his season debut tomorrow night.
Most of the Islanders wait roughly two minutes to see action. Two or three line shifts and the skaters come over the boards and into the fray. Kevin Poulin whose job description is "backup goalie" sat for seven days before he was called to be Evgeni Nabokov's proxy (a 3-2 loss to Chicago) and since has waited another 13 days.
With back-to-back games coming this week...
The legendary saga of Rick DiPietro has continued. He has signed a PTO with AHL’s Charlotte Checkers. Yes, he can’t even get a standard player contract. No one could have predicted that DiPietro would spend more time on the IR than on the ice, but he has been limited to 47 games since 2008. His injuries troubles began in March 2007 when he [...]
The Islanders will head into to Pittsburgh to battle the division leading Penguins tonight at 7pm. The Isles will start goalie Evgeni Nabokov in net as they try and tackle two points away from the high flying Penguins. I would expect Islander backup goalie Kevin Poulin to start tomorrow night in Philadelphia.
The only scratch for tonight is Eric Boulton so Brock Nelson will...
If we have learned nothing over the past year and a half the New York Islanders are always entertaining. The game isn't always perfect, or pretty or executed properly yet the Isles find a way to stick around and the next thing you know they find a way to steal a point or two.
Last night in Pittsburgh the Islanders hung around; killed off many Pittsburgh power plays and...
It sounds like Rick DiPietro will make his triumphant (?) return to professional hockey. According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, DiPietro has signed a professional tryout contract with the Charlotte Checkers, American Hockey League affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes.
This evening’s contest between the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins features two of Canada’s best centremen going head-to-head. John Tavares of the Isles and Sidney Crosby of the Penguins have many things in common that make them so great.…Read more →The post John Tavares & Sidney Crosby – two of Canada’s best at centre appeared first on The Hockey Daily.
GAME PREVIEW (9:30 AM EDT)
Looking to win back-to-back games for the first time this season, the Philadelphia Flyers (2-7-0) head to Uniondale, NY, to take on the New York Islanders (4-3-3). Game time is 7:00 p.m. eastern and the match will be televised locally on CSN Philly and on MSG Plus in the New York metropolitan area.

Remember Cam Ward is out 3-4 weeks with a lower-body injury.
Don't be surprised if this game starts a big-time run for the Islanders. Even though they got outshot, a stat that was aided by five fruitless Penguins power plays, the Islanders are starting to become a really tough team again. Don't get us wrong; their defense is still Swiss cheese, and no one has any idea which Evgeni Nabokov is going to show up on any given night...
John Scott has an in-person hearing with the NHL Department of player Safety to answer for his hit to the head of Bruins winger Loui Erikssoon. Scott violated NHL Rule 48 for making his opponent's head the principle point of contact. Thats the rule.
Why then does Bruins captain Zdeno Chara get to skate Scott Free? Chara blasted San Jose forward Tommy Wingels in the head on...
The Vancouver Canucks were in Newark, New Jersey on Thursday night to take on the Devils. Most of the controversy behind the Schneider/Luongo reunion had passed through on New Jersey's earlier trip to BC a couple of weeks ago. Still, however, this is a game featuring a team that made a recent Stanley Cup visit, has two viable NHL superstars in the Sedin twins, an Olympian in...
Sharks winger Tommy Wingels was forced from a game in Boston after taking a high hit from Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara with 2:28 to go in the first period. Wingels did not return.
from Kevin Kurz of CSNBayArea,
If McLellan had a problem with the Chara hit, he didn’t express it in his postgame presser, although he said earlier he “didn’t have a...
Undaunted from last night, we play over/under again tonight.
2 UNIT = New York Islanders @ Pittsburgh Penguins - OVER 5.5 GOALS (-125)
(Note: I am risking 2.00 units to win 1.60)
The 3-3-3 Islanders will head to Pittsburgh to take on the 7-2 Penguins. New York has lost 5 of their last 6 games, but they've been scoring goals. New York has 3 or more goals in 4 straight...
Successful road trip for Canucks
Well, that’s over.
The Vancouver Canucks‘ longest road trip of the season is now in their rear-view mirror, and it can’t be considered anything but a success.
They fought injuries, a horrible schedule and some pretty good teams to walk away with a respectable 5-1-1 record, and really only had one bad effort in Columbus.
The Canucks beat the...
