The Dallas Stars have made another move in their rebuilding process.
Dallas acquired center Shawn Horcoff from the Edmonton Oilers for defenseman Philip Larsen and a 2016 seventh-round pick in the NHL draft.
Stars general manager Jim Nill confirmed the trade to The Associated Press on Friday, a couple hours before teams could begin signing free agents.
The 34-year-old Horcoff has spent his entire career in Edmonton. He has 162 goals and 447 assists in 796 games since making his debut during the 2000-01 season.
The 23-year-old Larsen has five goals and 19 points in 95 NHL games.
Dallas previously acquired Boston forwards Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley for forward Loui Eriksson on Thursday in a seven-player trade.
BEST OF MAXIM
The Edmonton Oilers have traded forward Shawn Horcoff to the Dallas Stars in exchange for defenceman Philip Larsen and a seventh-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. Horcoff had spent his entire NHL career with the Oilers after the team drafted him in the fourth round (99th overall) in 1998. Horcoff carries a $5.5 million cap hit through 2014-15. If the Stars [...]
BLAME THE HACKERS
Tyler Seguin's Twitter account sent out a homophobic joke, but the Stars player said he was hacked.
The joke is from the movie “Full Metal Jacket”, but no one is going to do the research on that.
Long drive back to Toronto then Dallas for a few days

Seguin realized it was 2013, deleted the Tweet and blamed a hacker. You notice how the hacker always just makes one Tweet and then the original owner gets full control of their...
Entering the NHL draft this past week, the Dallas Stars were still lacking depth at center. After the draft, they were still lacking depth at center. The Stars’ only pick with significant experience at center was Jason Dickinson (29th overall), who also is listed as a left wing. This led to the idea that they will make up for their lack of depth via free agency.
The Dallas Stars have signed first-round draft pick Valeri Nichushkin to a three-year entry-level contract.
The 18-year-old Russian winger was the 10th overall pick in the draft last weekend. He played 18 regular-season games and 25 playoff games last season for the KHL club in Chelyabinsk, his hometown.
Nichushkin scored nine points (six goals, three assists) in the playoffs and...
PARTY IN THE USA
Tyler Seguin was traded by the Boston Bruins on Thursday, reportedly because the team was unhappy with his partying ways. In a wonderfully ironic twist, the youngster just so happened to throw a party the day he was traded. Numerous people tweeted about being at Seguin’s house on the Cape for a July 4 party [...]
The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed gritty forward Ryan Jones to a one-year contract.
The 29-year-old Jones has 52 goals, 42 assists and 141 penalty minutes in 282 regular-season games with Edmonton and the Nashville Predators.
Drafted in the fourth round of the 2004 draft by Minnesota, Jones' best season came in 2011-12 with Edmonton, when he had 17 goals and 16 assists in...
So Rich Peverley was traded to Dallas with Ryan Button and Tyler Seguin. As if our new tradition, when any Bruin leaves the team - we have a tribute to them with our favorite photoshops.
Bake em away toys.
Not a shop, just an awesome WTF face
It took one week for Jim Nill to put his stamp on the team. One week for him to completely overhaul the organization and bring some real excitement to the team. Stars fans are well aware of the two trades yesterday, so I won’t go into the details too much here.
Some thoughts on what Dallas lost first. It’s going to be tough not having Loui Eriksson around here next year....
The Philadelphia Flyers have signed goaltender Yann Danis to a one-year, two-way contract. Danis has spent the past two years with the Edmonton Oilers’ AHL affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons, and has recorded back-to-back 26-win seasons. He has led Oklahoma City to the Western Conference Finals in each of the past two seasons, including to within one victory of making the [...]
The Boston Bruins need look no further than Tyler Seguin’s statistics in the 2013 NHL playoffs if they want to justify trading him to the Dallas Stars. Seguin scored only one goal and tallied seven assists in 22 postseason games. That brought his total to six goals in 42 career playoff games with the team. [...]
Nashville added another piece to the puzzle as well, signing veteran Eric Nystrom to a 4 year, $10 million deal, marking the fifth player the Predators have picked up in the first day of free agency.
Nystrom, 30, scored 11 points last season for the Dallas Stars and has 83 points in 408 career games in the NHL. Nystrom is another depth forward, but is great on the ice during the...
Huge trade in the works. Boston and Dallas close on a deal sending Tyler Seguin to Stars for Loui Eriksson. Other parts involved as well.
