I can't imagine there are hordes of people outside of Minnesota and Edmonton waiting with baited breath for Wednesday night's tilt between the Wild and the Oilers, especially when there are games on the evening's schedule that appear far more entertaining. But there's at least one really good reason to watch this one instead. No, it's not Ryan-Nugent Hopkins, CBC. Stop screaming. In fact, it's not any of the prototypical stars of either team. This is the rare match where some of the best entertainment promises to be when the fourth lines are on the ice. Brad Staubitz and Darcy Hordichuk are pretty much guaranteed to go at it at some point, especially considering what happened last time. From Mike Russo: Staubitz, 27, the Wild's fourth-year fourth-liner, averages six minutes a game, but in the first period of Minnesota's 5-2 loss to the Oilers on Friday, he was baited into eight minutes of penalties -- interference, roughing, roughing and cross-checki...

Clutterbuck, Powe likely out for Wild on Friday

After a long day of travel that started at 8 a.m. in Edmonton, the Minnesota Wild hit the ice at the Xcel Energy Center around 3 p.m. to start preparing for Friday's game versus New Jersey. When the Wild faceo ff against New Jersey tomorrow night it is unlikely Cal Clutterbuck or Darroll Powe will be in the lineup. Neither skated with the team Thursday and both are suffering...

#6 Prospect: Tyler Bunz

Winter 2011: #6Summer 2011: #9Winter 2010: #20Summer 2010: NREdmonton might have a good one here. Tyler Bunz has been tracking very well since his draft day and might be the rarest of all things: a starting goaltender drafted by the Oilers. I'm no goaltending expert but have been following the Oilers long enough to spot new trends. Whereas the Moog-Fuhr draft era was a matter...

Oilers Are Still Music To Some Ears

There is no denying the love the city of Edmonton has for Ryan Smyth, and now there is a song expressing this love. Nielson at the Team 1260 has posted “We Built This Smitty” a re-working of We Built This City by Starship.  In the words of Nielson “We figured that Ryan Smyth probably deserved his own song. So we give to you. “We Built This Smitty” “ Continue reading...

Richard Cloutier: Five Reasons to Watch the Oilers/Wild Game

The Minnesota Wild are the best team in the history of hockey. Do I sound convincing when I say that? I need to do a bit of a sales job on myself, because tomorrow is the series premier of Storage Wars Texas, but instead of watching that I'll be focusing on the Oilers/Wild game. Makes blogging easier when I actually watch the game before I write something. As we all know...

"You better not try to stand in my way as I'm walking out the door, Take this job and shove it, I ain't working here no more," are the words to the classic country song Take this Job and Shove it! by Johnny Paycheck.  Its a blue collar anthem for those who are fed up with their job.  While I would never call myself a fan of country music, I wonder if this song...
