The Edmonton Oilers are still awaiting a verdict on winger Taylor Hall who was flown back to Edmonton on Sunday for further evaluation of his injured left knee. Hall will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the damage he sustained in a knee-on-knee collision with Eric Gryba of the Ottawa Senators in the second period of Saturday’s 3-1 win. The Oilers close out their six-game road trip against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday at the Bell Centre. “He’s a big part of our team so it’s tough to see him get injured” said Jordan Eberle who didn’t skate on Sunday but figured he’d be able to play in Tuesday’s game. Assuming that Eberle will be in the lineup the Oilers won’t call up a forward from the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League for the game. Instead Ryan Jones who was a healthy scratch against the Senators will be inserted into the lineup. “I’m not an expert” Eberle said about Hall’s situation “but I think with injuries like that you wait until the next day and look to see what’s wrong; to see if the inflammation goes down. “But yeah it’s a tough loss for our team.” Hall who scored two goals in a club-record eight seconds against the New York Islanders on Thursday has had his share of unfortunate injuries since the Oilers selected him first overall in the 2010 draft: - He was clipped by a skate blade during warm-up before a game with the Columbus Blue Jackets in January 2012 and was left with a frightening gash that required 30 stitches. - After scoring 27 goals and 53 points in 61 games he had surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder before the end of the 2012 season and - His stellar rookie season was cut short when he sustained a high ankle sprain during a rare fight. “We have so much skill we can fill that void” Eberle said. “If there’s one team that can do it it’s us. “We have so much skill in this locker-room but Taylor is obviously a guy who’s going to be missed. Guys are going to have to step up.” “It’s a big loss for sure but we have depth” said Ales Hemsky “(and) this is nothing new to us.”
