Finally, the Blackhawks return to the United Center after a successful six game road swing where they were able to gain 10 out of 12 available points. Looking at the bigger picture, that means the Blackhawks have earned 22 out of 24 possible points and still haven't lost a game in regulation, or overtime for that matter (two shootout losses), this entire season. Not bad for a team that has only played two games at home so far this year. Hopefully their road record is not an anomaly and they can keep the same intensity at home, but it seems like a pretty tall order to ask for perfection, which is basically the next step. The Ducks have been on a tear to start the season as well. The NHL has quickly learned a few things about this rejuvenated team:Viktor Fasth is a legitimate goaltender this season―oh and he's starting tonight.    Age is only a number to Teemu Selanne (14 points in 11 games).    Sheldon Souray always belonged in the NHL (seven points in 11 games).    They do...

Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook scores own goal vs Anaheim (Video)

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook accidentally scored an own goal during the second period of Tuesday night's NHL game at the United Center against the Anaheim Ducks. It happened in the second period as Seabrook was blocking a pass sent through the goal crease from Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf to his teammate Corey Perry. Unfortunately, Seabrook knocked the puck past...

The Blackhawks Should Pursue Ryan O’Reilly

Reports are indicating that the Colorado Avalanche are now shopping unhappy free agent center Ryan O’Reilly. The question isn’t whether or not the Blackhawks should be interested (they should), but what could/should they be willing to give up to acquire … Continue reading →The post The Blackhawks Should Pursue Ryan O’Reilly appeared first on Committed Indians.

Eklund: Getzlaf or Perry? Latest on O'Reilly, more changes on the Island? Flyers..

Quick Hits... With both Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf are the Parise and Suter of this coming summer UFA Frenzy...Many are seriously questioning if the Ducks can possibly afford both or if in order to get both under contract they will have to move other salary (ex:Bobby Ryan)? My sources say that despite the great start by Getzlaf if the Ducks can keep one of the pair it would...

Brunette retires, joins Wild's hockey ops

ST. PAUL, Minn. Andrew Brunette helped the Minnesota Wild for six seasons as a gritty forward willing to do the dirty work down low and along the boards. Now, he will try to help the team by finding players who compete the same way. Brunette, 39, announced his retirement after 16 seasons in the NHL and Minnesota general manager Chuck Fletcher said he will join the organization...

Cat doesn't want to be bothered while watching hockey game

Check out this fat cat sitting on a sofa contently watching hockey until his pesky caretaker comes along with a camera.  The cat looks totally chill — watching the NHL game on TV — until the guy asks his furry bud if he likes the Ducks. The feline's stare says it all. Of course he likes the Ducks.  He's a cat and cats like birds. He likes the Penguins too.  And he...

Steve Palumbo: Anaheim Ducks Balanced Attack Key to Early Success.

After Tuesday's game with the white hot Chicago Blackhawks (10-0-2), The Anaheim Ducks will have reached the quarter mark on the season. Right now they stand at 8-2-1 with 17 points, first in the Pacific Division and second overall in the Western Conference. Not a bad start for a team that was picked to finish near the bottom of the conference. The Ducks are doing this as...

Ducks Best Chicago in Shootout

On the road, going into Chicago to play a team that remains undefeated in regulation, you would think the Ducks would have been nervous and intimated.  They weren't.   Instead, the Ducks held their own against the best team in the NHL and came out with a 3-2 win in a shootout.  "It was pretty much a test for us to see where we stand," said goaltender Viktor...

John Jaeckel: A Dose Of Reality (And Luck)

Follow me @jaeckel The Blackhawks picked up a point last night against a very strong Western team, the Anaheim Ducks, remaining unbeaten in regulation. They weren't outworked or outchanced, but they were lucky to get the point. Rookie Brandon Saad's sheer athleticism was on display in the second period when he launched a shot in mid-air that counted as a goal...

John Jaeckel: Ducks@Hawks GameDay Preview

Follow me @jaeckel Anaheim Ducks at Chicago Blackhawks United Center, Chicago 8:30PM Central/6:30PM Pacific PRIME/CSN Chicago/WGN Radio Yesterday, I noticed a measurable swell in Hawk Hysteria on social media, as well as a lot of mention of Patrick Kane as a Hart Trophy candidate.
