Going in to last night's game I had a feeling that the Predators' perfect record against the St. Louis Blues could be in jeopardy. Both teams were so much alike and led by two of the most competitive coaches in the NHL who are best friends off the ice.

As competitive as the Western Conference is, the hockey gods will eventually even out series, to an extent, between similarly talented teams. That is what happened on Thursday night at the Bridgestone Arena.

The playoff race in the Western Conference is totally unbelievable and it is muddled even more by so many teams picking up "loser" points across the board.

Last night, 11 of the 12 Western Conference teams that played picked up at least a point. The lone exception was Chicago who lost to Dallas 3-1 when they blew a 1-0 third period lead.

At the end of play, the Predators remained in fifth place in the West with 77 points. They are still in a place by themselves being four points behind St.Louis and four points ahead of Chicago. They also have the fifth best overall record in the entire league.

The team will practice today at Centennial Sportsplex and then take on the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night when the Bridgestone Arena crowd will celebrate Brent Peterson night.

If you missed it yesterday, here is a story about David Poile's appearance on the NHL hour with Gary Bettman as well as a video.

Here is a story about Hal Gill who is now competing with Pekka Rinne for being the nicest guy on the Predators.

AJ has a piece that he put together about Nashville's 'heroes". Gill was pure class when he answered AJ's questions. I was privileged to be hatching the smiling Gill during the exchange.

Here is our game story from last night and Barry Trotz's postgame presser.  Make the jump for the full round-up of everything from the game...
