By Ryan Kiray (@RyanK_THG) The New York Rangers won a trip to Stanley Cup Finals by besting the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, cementing a return to prominence after a failure to qualify for the big show in the 2009-2010 season. Despite a series of ups and downs including multiple failed dances with overpriced players, the Rangers find themselves in the enviable position of taking the final step toward the ultimate prize, and knocked two division foes from the tournament to get there. The Rangers’ missteps over the last several years have been many and they have been grave, and General Manager Glen Sather has justifiably taken an immense amount of abuse for them. However, credit must be given where it is due: this run is Sather’s doing.
