Yes, those are self-portraits hand-drawn by Daniel and Henrik Sedin.   And yes, they are magnificently terrible. According to the great hockey blog Pass it to Bulis, the fellas tried their hand at art while spending part of the offseason in their home country of Sweden.  Their self-portraits were part of an experiment put forth by a Swedish newspaper to determine if identical twins who do most things in exactly the same manner, such as the Sedins have been known to do, would draw their own pictures identically as well. As you can see, the paper’s experiment failed miserably. And not to be too hypercritical of the Sedins, seeing that their usual medium is on an ice rink, but those drawings would make a  kindergartner cringe.  Henrik’s is far and away the better self-portrait, even if his head is alien-like and his eyes have noticeable cataracts.  Daniel’s image looks like it suffers from gigantism and a bad case of the mumps. Then again, I’m sure there’s someone out there who would ...

Game 57 Avalanche vs. Canucks: The Hockey Gods Aren’t Happy With Vancouver

The Nucks Need to Shape Up If you’re like me, you believe there is a higher being in the form of “Hockey Gods.” The Hockey Gods can strike at any time or shine upon your falling hopes when you have stopped believing. Phoenix Coyotes vs. Canucks blog: love ’em & hate ’em

#1stPlaceProblems As I pointed out last week, here is the conundrum Vancouver Canucks fans find themselves in: the team has been winning in 2012, but my god has the entertainment factor diminished. Still, the team has been winning and for the first 30 years of this franchise, they weren’t doing that. But in the past ten years or so, the team has made winning with style their...

Ian Esplen: Canucks Top Yotes in a Shootout

Another game, another shootout for the Vancouver Canucks, but at least they are getting the hang of it now.  For the eighth time in their past thirteen games, The Canucks battled into overtime and took their chances in the shootout. The Canucks deserved a bit better fate in this one (should have won it in regular time), but none the less, got the job done in the skills completion...

Avalanche-Canucks Preview

Shootouts have been very kind to the Colorado Avalanche all season, except earlier this month when they hosted Vancouver. The Canucks are getting plenty of practice in tiebreakers, but they hope they won't need one Wednesday night as they look to take at least one point from the Avalanche for the 15th consecutive meeting. Colorado (28-25-4) had won all seven of its shootouts...
