Welcome to another installment of The Week Ahead. It was an interesting week in the National Hockey League to say the least so let's get right to it.Three Stars of the Week1) Sam Gagner, Edmonton OilersEdmonton Oilers forward Sam Gagner certainly had a week to remember. On Thursday night against the Blackhawks, Gagner picked up an astounding eight points on four goals and four assists in an 8-4 Oilers win. Two nights later, Gagner picked up another three points on two goals and one assist in a 5-4 shootout win over the Detroit Red Wings. As a whole, Gagner finished the week with six goals and six assists for 12 points.2) Ilya Kovalchuk, New Jersey DevilsKovalchuk came up big for the Devils last week, tallying 10 points in four games. Kovalchuk scored a big goal against the Rangers on Tuesday, then had three consecutive three-point games to help the Devils close out a perfect week.
