Pro Sports Daily:
He may have won over his teammates with a win in his first start as a Maple Leaf but it could take some time for Jonathan Bernier to become a familiar face in the Eastern Conference.
The former Los Angeles King was named the third star by Flyers selectors after a 3-1 victory in which he was clearly the best player on the ice. Not only that he was announced as Steve Bernier (otherwise known as the journeyman New Jersey Devil.)
Many more nights like this one and Bernier will be seen as a force in the new-look Atlantic Division and the rest of the Eastern Conference. His puck control was impressive throughout the night a follow-up to what his teammates had seen in the pre-season.
“He’s not scrambling in there he gets out and plays the puck really well” Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul said. “The puck just seems to stick to him especially on point shots through traffic (or shots) that were tipped. It’s pretty impressive.”

Former Vancouver Canuck Mason Raymond scores the winning goal in his first game with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Stings a little, doesn't it?
Yesterday, I said I didn't think Raymond would do great things in Toronto. I'll stand by that for now. The goal was pretty flukey, as Raymond's pass attempt bounced off Raphael Diaz's leg and right back onto his stick...
The saying âwhatever you can do, I can do betterâ may be appropriate for the goaltending tandem of the Toronto Maple Leafs, as newcomer Jonathan Bernier sparkled in a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center Wednesday night.
Bernier made 31 saves in his Leafs debut, allowing only a first period power play goal to Brayden Schenn.
Dave Bolland scored twice and Phil Kessel added a goal to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night.

In what was a high tempo, eventful game last night, the Maple Leafs took their first win of the season after defeating Montreal 4-2 at the Bell Centre.
Starting off rather slow and sluggish due to nerves, both sides would eventually up their tempo and provide their fans with some exciting hockey. It would be the Leafs who open the scoring with an intended pass across the crease...
The Maple Leafs got a well-deserved day away from the rink on Thursday, after road victories on consecutive nights in Montreal and Philadelphia, but an injury to defenseman Mark Fraser in third period of Wednesday nightâs 3-1 victory over the Flyers could hasten the NHL regular season debut of rookie defenseman Morgan Rielly.
Fraser was injured when former Leaf Jay Rosehill...

With a 4-2 lead late in the third period of a choppy game Tuesday night the Leafs were in danger of crashing their way into the new season the same way the previous one had ended with a thud.

Despite the loss, Philadelphia outplayed the Maple Leafs for a majority of the game. Jonathan Bernier’s stellar performance in goal kept Toronto in the game through the first two periods, and the Flyers’ frustration showed in the third after conceding the game-winning goal to Dave Bolland.
At the same time, Toronto...
The 4-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night was far from a thing of beauty, but it does guarantee the Toronto Maple Leafs at least a split of back-to-back road games to start the 2013-14 regular season.
The Blue and White face Philadelphia in their home opener at the Wells Fargo Center, with Jonathan Bernier making his first start in net as a Leaf. Former Calder...
