Lost in all of this Vancouver Canucks nonsense that has taken place over the past week is the fact that Boston does have an arch rival. They are from Canada, but they don’t wear lime green, and they don’t speak English. Le Bleu, Blanc, en Rouge visit the TD Garden tonight to remind Bruins fans that the newer hatred between the B’s and Canuckleheads doesn’t hold a candle to Bruins-Habs. The Canadiens are reeling, currently in 12th place in the Eastern Conference with 39 points, seven points out of the final playoff spot. The Bruins are on the opposite end of the spectrum, sitting atop the Northeastern Division with 55 points, three points behind the top seeded New York Rangers. A win in this game would provide a huge boost to a Canadiens team that is in the process of self destructing. Tim Thomas should get the start tonight. Here are your projected lines. 17-46-18 67-37-19 52-23-49 20-11-22 33-55 44-21 14-54 30 40 The game will be televised on NESN and on the radio on 98.5 the Spor...

Thomas, Bruins take down Montreal 2-1

Mike Cammaleri was traded from the Canadiens tonight… in the middle of a game. The Montreal circus continues to get even more wild. In other news, there was a hockey game tonight! The Bruins welcomed the Habs to the Garden for their season finale with their nemesis from the north. Michael Cammalleri, Tim Thomas Share 'Get Out of Town!' Honors for Very Different Reasons After Bruins Win

"Get out of town," Tim Thomas! The Bruins goalie had a great game while making 33 saves to lead the Bruins to a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens. You could say the same thing to Michael Cammalleri after this one, too, but for a very different reason. The Habs winger was traded in the middle of the game and is getting shipped to Calgary. NESN Nation's Dan Duquette...

Tim Thomas vs Tuukka Rask

There is a post over at Backhand Shelf today that lists 10 backup goalies that have out performed their #1 counterparts.  It is an interesting read but it may be a perfect example of how simple statistics don’t tell the whole story. The first pair of goalies on the list are the Bruins Tukka Rask [...]

Top Goalie So Far This Season

When I last took a look at the top goalie in the league so far this year, partway through December, I picked Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins.  While Thomas is still having a very good season, Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers is doing even better.  Lundqvist has a better saves percentage (.939 vs. 938), a better goals against average (1.89 vs 1.99) in more games played...
