Found May 28, 2013 on Nightmare on Helm Street:
There was an e-mail thread going back and forth while I was on the road today (25,000+ miles driven since mid January) between the NOHS team and myself.  Josh was talking about how the Wings had been written off even before the play-offs...then again in round 1 and then twice here in round 2.  Twig added this gem: Chicago is playing to save face and escape with dignity. Wings are playing for history. I fired back an e-mail with my thoughts that had been gathering like a storm since last night.  Our resident stupid goalie, Chris...thought it would make a good post.  So here it goes.. After the jump. I've been brewing a few thoughts over the past few hours (driving of course.) While I agree with Twig's sentiments about Chicago trying to save face and Detroit playing for history...I feel like that's more about how the fans are thinking..and management. For the players...its all about winning this hockey game and making their bid for the Cup. If i...

CM Punk at Chicago Blackhawks Game 7, Updated WWE Business Numbers for April 2012

- WWE’s 7 regular live events and TV tapings in North America for the month of April averaged 10,100 paid fans per show. This would be the highest month for domestic average attendance going back to the Attitude Era, but it could be misleading because it was only 7 shows since most of the shows in April were held in Europe. The European shows averaged 6,600 paid fans for 22 live...

Chicago Blackhawks stave off elimination in game six

The Chicago Blackhawks waited until the third period to turn on the desperation, but hey, whatever works. Chicago did well to score first on the road against the Detroit Red Wings, but were outplayed going into the third period. The unlikely trio of Michal Handzus, Bryan Bickell, and Michael Frolik scored consecutively to lead the Blackhawks to a 4-3 win. Wednesday will be Game 7...

Waved-off goal irrelevant to Game 7 outcome

Chicago -- In the end, it didn't matter. But at the time, it seemed like it could turn the tide in the Red Wings' favor. With 1:47 left in regulation of Game 7, Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson appeared to score the go-ahead goal and pandemonium erupted at the United Center. But that was short-lived as referee Stephen Walkom waved off the goal as he had already...

We've been waiting for this Game 7

DETROIT -- Jonathan Toews sat in a weary but victorious Chicago Blackhawks dressing room late Monday night, quiet except for the din of interviews and unspooling hockey tape. I asked if he knew how long it had been since the National Hockey League witnessed the occasion his team earned a Game 7 between the Blackhawks and their Original Six rival Detroit Red Wings. No, Toews replied...

Michael Frolik scores sick goal on controversial penalty shot call

The Detroit Red Wings held a 2-1 lead entering the third period of game six against the Chicago Blackhawks and when they started the third period the wheels fell off the wagon. The Red Wings were down 3-2 when Blackhawks forward Michael Frolik found himself on a breakaway.  Red Wings defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo backchecked and took a one-handed swing at Frolik, hitting his stick...

Valtteri Filppula Injured After Slewfoot by Blackhawks’ Andrew Shaw

The Detroit Red Wings lost Valtteri Filppula — a clutch Game 7 performer throughout his career — early on Wednesday night against the Blackhawks after he was injured sometime during a first-period shift. Whether or not he tweaked something prior to a confrontation with Chicago’s Andrew Shaw, a slewfoot from the Blackhawks’ forward certainly did not help matters. Here’s...

NHL Players’ tweets about controversial no-goal call in game 7 of Wings-Hawks

After a brutal call waved off a goal scored by the Chicago Blackhawks late in the third period of game seven against the Detroit Red Wings, a few NHL players took to twitter to voice their opinions on the call and they were pretty unanimous in how they felt.

Impressive comeback for Chicago Blackhawks forces Game 7 with Red Wings

I'm not going to lie, I thought the Detroit Red Wings were going to wrap it up against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight on home ice,(This was before the game started). It was a dead even first period, shots on goal, 10 apiece scoring chances, at 4 a side, goals 1-1. Marian Hossa struck first for the Hawks on the power play, shortly after questionable penalty to Detroit with less...

Red Wings-Blackhawks Game 6 wrap-up: Wings’ ‘don’t panic’ button adjacent to ‘self-destruct’

The stats aren't pretty. The Red Wings have surrendered 3 of the 20 3rd-period goals they've given up this post-season and have now lost 3 straight games to the Chicago Blackhawks, dropping a 4-3 decision to the Chicago on Monday night (and I worked my butt off to post oodles of multimedia for your viewing pleasure), ensuring a melee at the "Madhouse on Madison"...

Red Wings-Blackhawks Game 6 game-day updates: Wings ‘loose,’ but Babcock demands a better effort

The Detroit Red Wings face a near-must-win situation as they hope to eliminate the Chicago Blackhawks tonight (8 PM EDT, NBCSN/CBC/97.1 FM, post-game on FSD) and avoid a winner-take-all Game 7 situation on Wednesday evening. If we are to believe what the Blackhawks' players and coach claimed on Sunday afternoon, the Blackhawks may have "their backs against the wall,"...

Henrik Zetterberg and Jonathan Toews (giff)

s/t to Jack who posted this gif in the comments of another post. So, do you think that the refs are not calling the obstruction in this series? This is pre-lockout officiating in the NHL. The calls the officials have let go have been pretty obvious. Zetterberg has been in Toews hockey pants all series long.

Red Wings-Blackhawks Game 7 multimedia post

Here are the multimedia offerings subsequent to the Detroit Red Wings' supposedly "owed" 2-1 OT loss to the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 7 of their second-round series. BEWARE: An auto-play clip from Fox 2 lurks within! We'll start with highlights, and NHL.com's highlights are narrated by the NBC schmucks: TSN posted a 4:09 highlight clip; Sportsnet...
