BOSTON — Bruins head coach Claude Julien has had plenty that he could be upset about when it comes to his team’s play as of late. The B’s have fallen off of their early-season pace, and they don’t look nearly as sharp as they did when they were running off points at a historic rate.
The head coach would certainly like things cleaned up, especially with only 10 regular-season...
The Bruins will struggle to do much of anything in the playoffs with Patrice Bergeron, and after the center suffered his fourth concussion last week against Ottawa, there was fear that the B’s could be without Bergeron for some time.
However, it sounds like the reigning Selke winner continues to progress in his comeback attempts, and he’s already hit a couple of milestones on...
There’s no other way to describe what Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov did to Brad Marchand on Wednesday night than to say it was downright dirty.
Volchenkov dropped Marchand with a high elbow to the head 15:11 into the second period of the Devils-Bruins game in New Jersey on Wednesday night. The hit left Marchand a little woozy, and the Bruins forward eventually fell to the...
Offensive catalyst Ilya Kovalchuk skated with the Devils for the first time since injuring his right shoulder more than two weeks ago and hopes to return soon to the struggling New Jersey lineup.
Kovalchuk would not set a timetable for his return, but coach Peter DeBoer said the Russian star probably will play before he is fully recovered.
The Devils are winless in seven games...
Ilya Kovalchuk will not play for the reeling New Jersey Devils until his injured right shoulder feels comfortable.
After skating with nine other players on Thursday, Kovalchuk was uncertain whether he would be able to play for the defending Eastern Conference champions on Friday against the Ottawa Senators.
The Devils have dropped eight consecutive games (0-4-4) and their chances...
Bruins fans have had their fears confirmed: Brad Marchand has a concussion.
The B’s forward suffered the injury Wednesday night in New Jersey, when he was hit in the head by Anton Volchenkov‘s elbow. The New Jersey defenseman received a four-game suspension for the hit.
“Brad has been diagnosed with a mild concussion,” Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said in a statement...
After acquiring some additional depth players to help them in their quest for another Stanley Cup, the Bruins are reportedly close to landing another. Sources indicate that the team is close to signing Carl Soderberg, the Swedish center whose rights were acquired by Boston in the Hannu Toivenen trade to St. Louis back in 2007.
The Bruins have publicly stated that they’re hopeful...

The New Jersey Devils continued to do what they've done since Ilya Kovalchuk has been out of the lineup: lose.
The Devils loss to the Bruins marks their eight consecutive loss (0-4-4) since Kovalchuk injured his shoulder. The difference between this loss and the rest is the Devils actually found a way to put some pucks in the net. The...
New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov was suspended for four games by the NHL for elbowing Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand in the head.
The league announced the suspension Thursday, roughly 12 hours after the second-period hit left Marchand wobbly in the Bruins' 5-4 win at the Prudential Center. He did not return.
Volchenkov, who had a hearing with the league via...
Gregory Campbell scored twice in a three-goal first period and the Boston Bruins regained first place in the Northeast Division with a 5-4 victory over the reeling New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night.
In winning for the fifth time in six games, the Bruins scored three times against Martin Brodeur in the opening 8:12, took a four-goal lead and then held on. Daniel Paille and Campbell...
Bruins head coach Claude Julien said that his team played better in the first period Thursday night than they had all season. Unfortunately, periods two and three didn’t go quite as well.
Boston couldn’t seem to muster any offense as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the New York Islanders, who have surprised everyone by going 9-1-1 in their last 11 games and would be a playoff...
Anton Volchenkov has been suspended by the NHL Department of Players Safety for four games for his hit on Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand. The hit was obviously dirty and was well due for a suspension. Anton Volchenkov has had previous disciplinary action before which is why he probably received four games.

What happened to the Devils in such short period of time??!!
The easy answer is, Kovalchuk is hurt. But a team relying on one player so heavily is exactly what Uncle Lou Lamoriello has preached against and avoided.
So what happened????
Do not let last night's result of 5-4 loss to the Bruins fool you - it was not that close!
Once again, the Canes were facing a team that did not bring their best game but were on the receiving end of another blowout loss because they could get a timely save from either of their goalies or buy a goal at the other end. This is the same thing that has happened to them over the last four weeks or so and the whole process is getting tiring because the outcome of most of their...
