If any city knows what Bruins fans are feeling like right now, it’s Toronto. Bruins fans are heartbroken after the B’s squandered a lead late in the third period of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, giving up two goals by the Blackhawks in 17 seconds. Meanwhile, up in Canada, Maple Leaf fans are still aching from their team’s epic collapse in Game 7 of the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs to Boston, when Toronto let a three-goal lead get away in a 5-4 overtime loss. So the Toronto Sun decided to return the favor for Boston’s comeback with a front page reading: “To: Chicago, THANKS! Love: Toronto.” The Sun is known for its clever front pages and a willingness to call out its hometown team, which was evident after Toronto’s losses in Games 1 and 7 against the Bruins.
