The Pittsburgh Penguins’ Arron Asham sent a message to the Winnipeg Jets’ Tanner Glass Friday evening.

The message: Stay away from Evgeni Malkin. After Glass checked Malkin into the boards, Asham defended his teammate, and the two had a good-spirited back-and-forth of right-handed jabs.

The winner: Give the edge to Asham.

Here’s the fight:

Penguins' Deal for Neal, Niskanen Paying off Handsomely

When Pittsburgh Penguins’ GM Ray Shero dealt everyday defenseman Alex Goligoski to Dallas for James Neal and Matt Niskanen last February, it was the consensus that Shero had put one over on Dallas GM Joe Nieuwendyk. Given the deal, many believed Shero had incriminating photos of Nieuwendyk hidden in a desk drawer somewhere in the CONSOL Energy Center. Goligoski was often panned...

Penguins' Engelland waits to hear from NHL

Penguins defenseman Deryk Engelland will learn today whether he remains eligible to play Friday night in Winnipeg. Engelland...

Merry Christmas, Deryk Engelland!

Engelland was suspended for three games by the NHL for his hit on Marcus Kruger on Tuesday night. I think that might be a bit too steep, but let's face it - he absolutely went high on a hit, and unnecessarily so.  He also made direct contact with the head as a result of going high on the hit.  I'm not sure if he was trying to pull up and that's why he went high,...

Penguins 4, Jets 1

So what happened? I missed this game entirely.  Holidays do that to hockey watching. Seems like this is one that would have been fun to watch.  Nice to see the Pens hold the Jets to just 19 shots and put the game away in the third. Who scored? Vitale (2), Neal (20), Staal (13), Dupuis (10) What's their record now? The Pens are 20-11-4. ...

Pens-Jets In-Game Blog

7:00 PM (CENTRAL TIME): We are a half hour away from puck drop at MTS Centre. The Pens will be without Deryk Engelland, who is serving a 3-game suspension. The team recalled defenseman Brian Strait from WBS, but hasn't ruled out using Z...

snickerdoodles and whiskey

. . .was my sustenance during this game. This game began with a Stain. We were always of the belief that Winnipeg, as a Canadian city, was at least as deserving as the Southern American sprawl of Atlanta in terms of requiring a hockey team. (I mean remember the time the ASG was in Atlanta, what was with that ****.) Anyway, apparently the city of Winnipeg has gotten its dick so...
