PHILADELPHIA - APRIL 20: Brian Boucher #33 and Ian Laperriere #14 of the Philadelphia Flyers celebrate after defeating the New Jersey Devils in Game Four of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals during the 2010 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at the Wachovia Center on April 20, 2010 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ian Laperriere was a Philadelphia Flyer for a very short time in the grand scheme of things, however, his impact on the franchise and on hockey will be felt for years to come.  Today, after sitting out two seasons because of post concussion syndrome, Ian Laperriere called it a career and hung up his skates.

He will be remembered as one of the most courageous players every to play the game, and that is exemplified in shot the he blocked with his face that wound up ending his career.  Lappy plans on staying in the area and continuing to working with the Flyers in developing young players and prospects.  Laperriere has also been an analyst for the Flyers on the Comcast Sports Network in Philadelphia. Best of luck to Lappy.  In honor of his retirement, we look back on his career in video.
