from Mike Cole of NESN,
Bruins coach Claude Julien was clearly agitated with Cooke’s play, a hit that Julien deemed to be too low.
“It’s pretty obvious that it’s a cheap shot from Cooke,” Julien said. “The typical, same guy. He’s gotta go low and getting a guy right around the knee area and turns his back.

Matt Cooke has deserved his time spent as public enemy number one in many cities over the years. It’s not even debatable. He has done a few things that are going to keep him from ever receiving the hockey equivalent of saint hood, or the Lady Byng award. The entire city of Ottawa has spent the last two months trying to prove that Cooke did something based entirely on Cooke’s...
Jack Edwards has never been one to stifle his emotions, but he may have gone a little too far when talking about the Peguins’ Matt Cooke on Saturday afternoon. During Saturday’s Bruins-Pens game, Edwards discussed the Pittsburgh media nominating Cooke for last season’s Masterton Award, given to the player who shows dedication and perseverance to hockey, and stated it was...
So, I ask you. What is wrong with Jack Edward's comments? "Nominating Cooke for the Masterton is about the equivalent of nominating Sirhan Sirhan as the prisoner of the year," Edwards said.
Personally, I don't have a problem with those comments. Cooke is a reckless, dirty and dangerous player, who is responsible for many random, bush league acts on the ice over...
BOSTON — The Bruins are obviously no fans of Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke, and they aren’t afraid to let anyone know about it apparently.
Cooke was in the middle of things again Saturday night when he delivered a questionable hit to Boston defenseman Adam McQuaid during the second period of Pittsburgh’s 3-2 win over the B’s.
Bruins coach Claude Julien was clearly...
Emotions were running high following a moving pregame ceremony as the Boston Bruins hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday afternoon, just hours after an extensive manhunt for one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects concluded.
Unfortunately, this emotion apparently got the best of NESN announcer Jack Edwards as he made an inappropriate (and bizarre) comparison between...
We as sports fans are passionate, sometimes overly. Go on any message board or large commenting section about a controversial topic and you will observe anonymous individuals making statements that are more insulting and callous than they are creative. However, this is not something you expect from a commentator or play-by-play man in a sport. Though they may have the same type of...
Reasonable question: If you are the Penguins, do you dress Matt Cooke in Ottawa tonight? Chances are nothing will happen Monday night when the Pens and Sens square off. However, the Senators, their owner and their bizarre fan base seem intent on starting something. Honestly, we wouldn't be surprised if the Senators open the game by showing the results of Eugene Melynk's ...
I don't think I"m exaggerating to say the greater hockey world was eagerly anticipating Eugene Melnyk's next interview following this little number (which Graeme had some fun with here). Eugene talking into a microphone is pretty much always notable, but this instance went viral in ways past curious comments stayed a local footnote.
The above video was shot today...
This immediately reminds us of that episode back in the 2009 playoffs when cops were called to some kid's house because he said he was gonna kill Ovechkin or something on a message board.
Some site called Red Scarf Union is organizing a Matt Cooke Hate Fest. It actually sounds pretty serious. Wouldn't be surprised to see the local police notified.

I am sorry for insulting Matt Cooke, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the National Hockey League, and anyone else upset by my Cooke comments.

I made a mistake. My fault all the way. This is my apology.Bad week, bad emotional reaction by me.

Tonight, the Pittsburgh Penguins travel to Ottawa to play the Senators and this will be the first matchup between the Senators and Penguins since the defenseman Erik Karlsson was injured by a check by Matt Cooke. From reading some of the news articles around the web, it would appear that this is going to be one of those must watch games.
One almost has to suspect there will be...
from Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun,
But despite his pleas of innocence afterwards, Cooke has twice been suspended for hits to the head, and he did end the career of Boston Bruins centre (and Orleans native) Marc Savard. He has said he's changed his ways, but not everybody is convinced. In fact, most still see him as one of the sneakiest and dirtiest players in the league...
So after Jack Edwards made his now famous comments about Matt Cooke in the first period, he had someone to deal with during the first intermission.
Via the PG:
Penguins general manager Ray Shero was visibly enraged when he learned of Edwards' comments and confronted him in the first intermission.
Edwards apologized shortly thereafter.
