The Washington Capitals and their fans are riding high in light of the team’s 3-1, home ice victory over the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the teams’ Eastern Conference quarterfinals playoff series. One big-time Capitals backer in the crowd at Verizon Center — who also happened to have some sweet seats — came to the arena prepared to razz Rangers surly head coach John Tortorella. Armed with a sign that when unfurled, read “Fire This Clown” with an arrow after the message, all this guy had to do was stand behind the glass in close proximity to Tortorella and let the sign do the talking. What a wisenheimer. Bonus points for the unidentified Capitals fan for busting out another sign that contained a well-played reference to a line from The Color of Money: Nicely done. I bet underneath that hat, his hair was perfect. That’s another reference to “The Color of Money.” You know, the scene when Tom Cruise struts around and stalks the pool table while the Warren Zevon song, “Werewolves of London,” plays? Work with me, people. [H/T D.C. Sports Bog] The post Washington Capitals fan’s John Tortorella sign: ‘Fire this Clown’ (photos) appeared first on Sportress of Blogitude.
