The Washington Capitals have been anything but explosive during the last few games.So what happened their attack?The Washington Post focused on two fronts. First, the No. 1 power play unit has become predictable. After converting 7 of their first 12 opportunities with the man advantage, the whiffed on their next seven.Opponents are focusing on denying Alexander Ovechkin the cross-ice pass for the back door shot and yet the Capitals keep working the puck toward the Great 8. Ovechkin has taken 42 percent of that team’s power-play shots this year. Only defenseman Mike Green (24 percent) has posed a secondary threat. Pass-happy center Nicklas Backstrom  has taken only 9 percent of the shots. Mikhail Grabovski has taken just three shots on the power play and Troy Brouwer just one.
