Chicago Blackhawks Hockey - It’s no secret that the Chicago Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues are rivals in the NHL, but what some people don’t know is that games between the Rockford Ice Hogs (Blackhawks) and the Chicago Wolves (Blues) get just as physical and just as heated. Shea/Rattie Fight The rivalry went up a notch last night when the Ice Hogs and the Wolves met in Chicago. As you can see in the video above it all started when Rockford’s Bobby Shea clearly throws an elbow to the head of Chicago’s Ty Rattie. Before Rattie had time to even react to the elbow Shea dropped his mitts and started throwing his fists. The two were separated and because it was towards the end of the second period the two players were sent to the locker room. Now there are two narrow rubber runways for the players to walk on with their skates to get to their respective locker rooms, well Shea wasn’t done and it looks like he didn’t want to mess up his skate blades so he decided to do a crawl over to the other runway and keep the fight going. Eventually the police broke the two players up. Paul LaTour of the Chicago Tribune spoke with Rattie after the game: “That was something else,” Rattie said. “He crawled. I don’t know why he crawled. He could have just walked across. It was weird. He got me with one (punch) and the cops jumped in.” The Aftermath So, of course, there are repercussions to these (dumb) actions. Bobby Shea has been suspended for 8 games for fighting off the ice (doesn’t help a player trying to eventually make it to the NHL) and the Ice Hogs Jared Nightingale was suspended for 6 games for leaving the bench and starting a fight.
